Saw this when I was 3 back when Disney would periodically bring out the older films for a theatrical release. Didn't get to see the whole thing, though, because it's also the night I had my first asthma attack and we had to leave during the exciting conclusion so I could go to the emergency room and get on the breathing machine.

It's actually odd that I've become such a big movie fan considering how traumatic some of my earliest movie trips were. I saw The Rescuers at a drive-in and was crushed when the film broke towards the end, another time went to a double feature of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Darby O'Gillis and the Little People with my dad when I was about five or six and the banshees in Darby O'Gillis scared the fuck out of me, and I was so freaked out during parts of both Ghostbusters and Little Shop of Horrors that I had to be consoled in the lobby.

My 1st one in theater was VI, Undiscovered country. My dad and I drove 30 miles away to see it.

We had this dollar-threatre at the end of your street and it was there for, like, a week. My father had decided that we needed to wait. I think he was doing something as pedestrian as having to work overtime. Anyway, it left as soon as it got there! We waited all that time (it must've been late-January, early-February at that time, 1992) and they usually had runs from 2-4 weeks for each movie. Because it was so late, we didn't get the opportunity to see it.

My first memorable Star Trek experience was the TNG episode, original run, of "The Best of Both Worlds, Part II." They ran the season-finale and season-premiere back-to-back. I can still remember my mother explaining what was happening when they took Captain Picard off the bridge. I was terrified, mostly because the episode had an emotional impact on her. I'm a life-long Trekkie. Trek, Star Wars, and Pistons basketball were all introduced before age 5. Been indulging them ever since. It makes me feel like a kid again.

To this day, Alien is the only movie I ever walked out on. I was still in the Army, and a bunch of us had been out drinking that evening, and I decided to go to a midnight show. I was already a little sick to my stomach when the movie started, and it didn't get any better as the movie played. There was a group of guys behind me, and they were laughing at the gross stuff. When the critter came bursting out of the guy's chest, I felt my dinner and several drinks rising, and got up and went to the restroom. The guys behind me were laughing it up. While I was in the bathroom, splashing cold water on my face, the loudest of the laughing guys came in. He had pissed himself. I gave up and left. Went back and saw it a couple of weeks later.
