That said, Duncan is an all-time great big. Manu is an incredibly clutch, awesome wing, but he's streaky and has never been the foundation of a franchise.

Also, bigs > wings

They are complementary.
Tim is allways there, bringing it, taking care of all, and Manu, well... Is just the winner, the difference, in Tim words the guy that makes things happen when nothing is working.

They are both as important for this team.

If you will speculate then you can speculate about what could happened with Manu on another team, playing as the star, but this is not about speculation, you can't meassure that. Tim Duncan is by most people's definition one of the ten best basketball players to ever play the game, and the very best to ever play his position. Manu playing elite ball overseas, is nice but by no means does that put him anywhere near Duncan's realm of all time greatness..
