Well, this has been an interesting season for the silver and black.
If there's one word to sum it up so far: Inconsistency!!
The Spurs' greatness was always consistency. The Bulls (of the 90's) were spectacular and had a rock-star quality. The Lakers (of the 2000's) were remarkable and had a reality-tv show quality to them. The Celtics (of the 80's) were hardworking and tough.
And all those teams went through the period that the Spurs are starting to go through right now. Great teams hitting the downcycle in their championship era.
No great team escapes it....no matter how much their fans don't want to accept it.
Since 1999, the Spurs have had the golden era and been blessed with 4 championships. They have been called everything: most professional team, most international team, most boring team, most dirty team, and the even oldest team.
Now in 2010......and the real winds of change are coming. Spurs took a risk financially this off-season (something definitely outside of their business model) and it hasn't worked, injuries to the Big 3, and now role players wanting to jump ship.
So what is a realistic Silver-and Black fan to do. Appreciate what you had and hope (really hope)....this team can squeeze one more championship in the next year or two before Duncan retires.
Also, appreciate the most overlook quality of consistency and by looking at this season understanding that quality is a sign of greatness.
