Willie Warren arrested for outstanding warrants (http://www.oudaily.com/news/2010/apr/12/willie-warren-arrested-outstanding-warrants/)

Former OU basketball player Willie Warren, 20, was arrested Saturday afternoon, according to Norman Police reports.

Warren, who announced in April his plans to enter the NBA draft, was arrested for two outstanding municipal warrants, according to the Norman Police’s daily arrest report.

The Norman Municipal Court placed Warren on a list of people wanted by Norman Police on an outstanding warrant Thursday, according to the City of Norman’s Web site.

An officer at the Cleveland County jail said Warren was never in the jail’s custody this weekend.

A records officer at the Norman Police Department said Sunday an arrest might not always involve jail time when matters involve municipal warrants, if bond can be posted immediately at the time of arrest.

The officer said because of the arrest address being the location of the Norman Police station, 201 W. Gray St., it is likely Warren turned himself into police Saturday.

The Norman Police report lists Warren’s offenses in relations to the municipal warrants as misdemeanors.

Warren, Big 12 Freshman of the Year, missed eight games his sophomore season because of an ankle injury and another because of illness.

“I didn’t like how things went this year with my injury and everything, but I also feel like I have the skills to take the next step,” Warren said Wednesday in a press release. “Some of the things I need to work on, like being a better leader and being more vocal, are things I can do at the next level.”

Warren was a second-team All-Big 12 pick as a freshman and an honorable-mention selection this season. He averaged a team-high 16.3 points per game this season along with 3.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.0 steals.

Warren's agent, Kim Grillier, said five teams in the lottery have contacted him about his client. The 6-foot-4, 195-pound combo guard worked out this week for two teams -- San Antonio and Houston -- with the Rockets holding the 14th and last lottery selection.

i wouldnt call him monta, he reminds me more of finley, jamal mashburn, caron butler, jerry stackhouse

volume scorer, straight away shooter, raise directly up in your face, get to the line

hes a very large 6-4, not really a great ball handler but the guy is strong as shit and can score 25 in his sleep

i dont think he'll fall but i would love him in SA

We can agree he is a scorer, but I think he might even fall into the second round. He had a poor season and season ending surgery last year. I'll be curious if he even stays in the draft this year. He was
projected top 5 a couple seasons ago but now it's not a sure thing he's in the first round.

The (earlier) withdrawal deadline (May 8th) this year has already passed, so, he and everyone else you see on draft projections now are in.

It's amazing to me that he had these outstanding warrants, yet, even though he (allegedly) attends classes on campus, and plays scheduled home games in their arena, they can't find his ass until he declares for the draft. :lmao

Really?

I dunno seems to me like he'd just be taking away minutes from George Hill.

We need depth at the 3/4 positions

If we had (or acquired) an early 2nd I think he'd be worth a look and I wouldn't cry if we took him. I love combo guards when they're done right. But it's hardly a huge need at this point with Hill, Ginobili and De Colo and some options that might be around late in the draft (Vasquez, Shved).

Warren hasn't done too bad at the combine. If the Spurs somehow ended up with him, does that make George Hill expendable?
