I knew J-Ho was a dumbass, but it wasn't until we got a REAL SMALL FORWARD in the house named Caron Muthaufuckin Butler did I realize just how seriously fucking retarded J-Ho really was.

Caron isn't scoring a lot more than J-Ho, but his presence is felt exponentially because he makes infinitely less dumbass plays.

Well for starters Caron moves the ball very well, he's probably our 2nd best passer in the team after Kidd (though Dirk has become amazing too). Josh on the other hand was a black hole.

If Carlisle isn't a complete dumbass he will give Rodrigue all of JJ's minutes. Play him as a backup pg. If he keeps playing like this, you can't keep him on the bench imo.

tbh Carlise is still going to be a Barea knobslobber. We saw similar explosions of talent last season with Gerald Green, and Carlisle remained stubborn all season long.

imo Beabois' potential > Green's potential but still, if Carlisle ever bothered to develop Gerald Green, we'd have another legit 2-guard on the roster right now.

Mono, I don't think you can blame Mr. Carrey for that. Green is not doing anything.

Dallas was largely considered his "last chance" among the higher-ups in the NBA. Nobody was going to give him a chance if he flamed out in Dallas.

Gerald Green showed considerable potential in Dallas, he always played hard when he was on the court, and his only real flaw was that he had a tough year shooting the ball. Carlisle never gave him a fair shake.

Honestly I think he's still got All-Star level talent, but most everyone in the NBA had already decided "if he flames out in Dallas then he's finished forever" and that's why he's not around anymore.

I think Carlisle learned some from what happened to Gerald Green, which is why he's given Beaubois a teeny bit more leeway. But it's still not enough, and his inability to trust raw playmakers will be his downfall in Dallas unless he figures that out.

Green had plenty of occasions where he played aggresive defense and gave the offense a big spark.

Beaubois is shooting a whole lot better than Green did at any point last year, and that's helping him a lot.

a 6-8 shooting guard with ungodly athleticism is always a good thing as long as his talent is being used properly, and the bottom line is that Carlisle never gave Gerald a fair shot. Which is very similar to the way Carlisle treated Roddy up until 2 games ago.

Here is Roddy's game log if you want to see exactly how he has done.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/gamelog?playerId=3963

He got a decent amount of playing time in the second half of November and early December. But then he went almost a full month playing only a single minute TOTAL. There are a lot of 0's under the minutes category. If you check a lot of the Mavs' box scores this season, you'll find way too many of these next to Beaubois: "DNP Coach's Decision."

Just had a look and he has an awesome FG% and also at 40% from three point range. I am very surprised he is 6-0 because I just saw some bigs dunks on those highlight videos. This kid is alright so far. I wonder why Carlisle never plays him much. When he gets decent minutes it looks like he can score.

Yeah cuz Butler (35% shooting) and Haywood have so much playoff experience and are so tough :rolleyes

The Nuggs crushed the Mavs last year, and in the last meeting with you guys won 127-91. The only reason the Mavs have a vetter record right now is because Melo has missed a decent amount of games this year.

Are the Nuggs dumbshits? Oh yeah, but they aren't better than the Lakers and just a little better than the Mavs.

Oh dude, I'm not saying the Nuggs will destroy the Mavs like last year, and KMart may not even be available come playoff time, I just don't think the Mavs are clear cut #2 as most Mav fans seem to think on here.

The Nuggs have a low b-ball IQ, but Melo is having his best season yet and I think they're better this year than last. They have the best record against the elite teams of the league, and I think they'll be a much tougher out than people are suggesting.

hairston is a way better defender then roddy

there both leapers and athletic though

roddy could be a good go to guy player because is a good shooter

hairston will be no more than a bruce bowen or trevor ariza if his shot gets better which is showing signs

Dirk has 0 excuses. Dallas has the best team. Kobe is old, Tim is old, Nuggets lost one of their best players, Boston is old, Magic nah, Cavs nah.....everything is set up for a Mavs :lobt2: ......

Based off what? Their ability to self implode?

Not in the extreme the Nuggets do, not even close.

I'll take their chances against Denver, the biggest collection of dumbshits in the NBA.
ROFL, this muthafucka think Dallas beat Denver in the playoffs. Muthafucka Denver only self implodes against the Lakers, get that shit straight. Better pray that KWart is done for the season otherwise history gon' repeat itself once more come playoff time. LMAO @ this fool obtaining false hope with the addition Caron "AIR" Butler and Brendon "WILT" Haywood. Nugz real scurrred.:lol

The Real Answer
Naa, the real answer is Malik "I suck" Allen. Balkman should get his minutes, but with Joey Graham and Allen on the bench, Karl won't even acknowledge his existence. I have no idea why the Denver FO gave Balk a contract extension if Karl won't play him.

We'll see, and obviously the trade is great for you guys, but this is still the Mavs with the same mentally soft core.

2006: Dirk, Josh, Devin, Stack, Dampier, Marquis and Terry

2010: Dirk, Kidd, Butler, Terry, Haywood, Marion and Dampier

So who is mentally soft? Dirk? Terry, the guy who plays with a broken orbital bone? Dampier, their sixth-best player?

The Magic and ATL wins were nice no doubt, but it's hilarious how so many Mav fans think they're gonna win it all just because they're taking advantage of a soft spot in the schedule.

vs. Phoenix, @ Orlando, @ Atlanta, vs. LA Lakers, @Chicago, @Charlotte. Yep, no quality W's in this "soft spot" in the schedule.

and in the last meeting with you guys won 127-91.

Before the trade, and with the Mavs playing on the 2nd night of a b2b. The Mavs won in Denver earlier this year when Billups was out with an injury. Neither game tells us anything about a potential playoff meeting.

Yeah, their toughness has led to so much career success and in Butler's case being traded multiple times.

Are you disputing Butler is a very good player? He was traded for Shaq, a move that helped the Heat win a championship. He didn't get enough touches in LA with Kobe in supreme selfish mode and the Lakers didn't know what they had. The Wizards dumped him because they're in blow it up rebuild mode. His being traded says nothing negative about him.

This 12 game stretch has been brutal for the Mavs.

4 back to backs, lots of good teams, only 3 really bad teams.

the rest of March is pretty easy though... I could see us only having 0-1 losses.

You also beat a hampered Lakers team

Who were the Lakers missing that night? The Mavs were missing Butler and Dampier.

Fact: Any team can sweep the Nuggets without Chauncey in a playoff series. Sad, but true.

As of right now. Spurs are in the same position as the Mavs being 3 games behind a relatively superior team. Mavs on a 11 game win streak. Spurs on a 4 game win streak. Mavs are stacked. Spurs are old. Just stating the facts.

Try 5 games behind. Maybe only 3 more losses. Yes, the Spurs have played 4 fewer games. But SA would have to win all four to THEN be 3 games behind the Mavs.

Yeah, I love the "only look at the loss column" logic when deciding how many games behind a team is. The Spurs only win about 60% of their games, but saying they are only 3 games behind assumes that they will win all 4 of the additional games the Mavs have played that they haven't.

They'll be sure to make up that ground now with a platoon of George Hill and Roger Mason at PG.

It's fair to say that the Mavs have upgraded their roster from last year's playoff meeting quite a bit.

2009 Dallas: Dirk Kidd Jet Damp Howard Barea Wright Hollins
2010 Dallas: Dirk Kidd Jet Damp Haywood Butler Matrix Beaubois Barea

Denver has added Lawson and Afflalo too, but might have lost KMart for the year. And with him they were barely defending Dirk last year. However it plays out this year, it's clear the Mavs are muuuuuch better equiped at handling Denver.

Indeed it was a lovely move to swap Josh/gooden for Haywood/butler at the point of time when the trade was executed, but was it such a big surprise in the view of the whole season? It was the marion trade and only marion trade in which Mavs got a wicked deal, swapping some putrid dipshits into someone who still plays. And subsequently the Mavs started to regard themselves as real contenders for the upcoming 09-10 season, of course, on the basic assumption that all their guys in blue would remain healthy and play fine.

As Ortis Smith furled up Gortat and managed to drain Brandon Bass off Dallas, Donnie meticulously chose to throw his invaluable MLE on Drew Gooden who was roughly one of the bests still available in FA market. Crisply Drew was signed with expectations rising.

The new signings were expected to bring a lot of changes and to make their team a turbulent power together with their new teammates which included Josh Howard. Therefore by the time of season starting you had got a roster starring the pivots like Josh, Dirk, Kidd, Gooden, Marion, JET, JJB etc.

The season started well for Mavs but it then went disappointing as Josh broke his achilles tendon and consequently it forced Carlisle to play either JJB or Roddy in starting lineups, despite that his sub was either too inchoate or too short. the first half of season was so disappointing that the Mavs were over satisfied by the trade of Josh/Gooden and Haywood/Butler, while the impact that could be produced by Gooden and a healthy Josh shouldn't be any smaller than what could be done by Haywood/Butler.

So the Mavs are just playing at exactly the great level as their off-season expectation supposed. the current Josh/Gooden combo surely isn't as effective as haywood/butler at present, but they're just doing what Josh/Gooden were expected from off-season.

Mavs were a little bit lucky on that win streak but they seemed to have a different vibe at the time. They definitely showed some warts, given some of the close calls, but again... just had a different vibe.

Not sure where that "vibe" or "mojo" went.

I use quotations since its hard to quantify these things!

gotta tighten up that defense a little more, but otherwise, the Dallas Mavericks are the fuckin truth!

Poor Mavs fan. You do realize they will lose in the playoffs. And before you call me a "hater"...those MFers cost me 200 bucks when they went to and lost in the finals. Mavs will do what they do...which is raise expectations of their fans (thus causing them to start annoying threads like this one) and then LOSE!

Kick bikes Dirk......kick bikes.

You don't remember det one time they won two titles 15 years ago? Even without that, they can talk trash because they'll be a beast team next season after signing Chris Bosh for the MLE and Joe Johnson for the LLE. Yes, Daryl Morey or whatever his name is is that much of a genius!
