View Full Version : Spurs and Lakers in the 1st round?

that would be a great matchup to see. If any team could pull it off it would be San Antonio. Watching them play vs the Hornets, they still have some good play in them. Not to mention they play well on the road.

With nothing to lose, i think thats as dangerous a matchup as any for the Lakeshow.

I guess the Lakers will have to wait for the second round to get knocked out by the Suns then...

He will be back for the playoffs. And I agree with Bump, the Spurs are the most dangerous team of all the 5th to 8th seed.

Only if we're lucky.

Parker should be back in time for the playoffs. If the Spurs do meet the Lakers in the 1st rd, it looks like the Lakers should beat the Spurs, but that is a good point. The Spurs won't be the favorites to win and will walk in Staples center with nothing to lose and with all the championship experience and the experienced vets, they could potentially give the Lakers a very tough 1st round series.

Lakers sweep in 3.

If Parker is back, it might be a bit interesting since any PG with some speed is bound to torture Fisher. But the Lakers will still win.

Nothing interesting to see here. The Spurs will probably be swept or lose 4-1. TBQH, I'd rather see them in the lottery.

Only way the spurs win is if gasol is injured.

lakers in 5.

rofl why are you assuming the Suns beat Utah especially since right now they'd have to get a win at Utah? I'd much rather them tank and play the Thuggets, Utah has given them trouble all year.

As of today, Spurs are the 7th seed. If playoffs started tomorrow, they'd face the Mavs.

With Parker's injury, the Spurs inconsistency and inability to beat top level teams, Lakers would win in 4, if Spurs played to best of their ability at this point, it may go 6. In either or all scenarios, Lakers win the round.

IMO Parker's injury might help SA out if he has a few games prior to the playoffs to get back in the flow. That'd probably help his plantar fascitis heal and whatever hip injury he supposedly has. This is a long shot but if he's out maybe Dick Jefferson can get more touches on O and play better. If they manage to sneak into the playoffs with a healthy Duncan, Ginobili and Parker they're the bottom seed no one wants to face.

I agree with Mr. Dragic, in that the key is Parker may need to return a few games before the playoffs to get his flow back. If his first game back from injury is going to be game 1 of the playoffs that would be terrible, as a hand injury on his shooting is going to take time to get used to.

I hope it's somehow not as bad as it looks and that he's out for 4 weeks.:(

The Spurs are a joke. The Lakers win in 4, all wins by 10+

Well if that's how you feel. But other than the boys in blue or the nuggets, there probably isn't another western playoff team right now that isn't put out in 4 by the Lakers imho.

The Suns and Jazz would be able to win at least one game. Maybe that's it but LA wouldn't sweep them.

LA would not sweep the Spurs either. Spurs would get hot for one game from 3 point land.

I agree. The Spurs would have a game where everything clicks on O, the Jazz would have a game where Deron Williams goes beast mode on LA and Boozer has his way with Gasol, and the Suns would have a game where they get contributions from everyone and LA never really gets going.

Spurs started off like 0-6 on the road, alot of it due to early season injuries to Tony, Tim, and Manu...theyve been 14-8 since. Not great but solid. Regarding the series, Lakers would win but theyd have their struggles.

Wont happen....the Blazers, Grizzlies, Hornets, Rockets (all teams fighting for 8th) wont catch the Spurs....

Spurs would get one game due to hot outside shooting, but that would be it.

this is the best situation for sa. assuming sa is 8 and la 1, we would have to play la sooner or later. also def easier than a den, then dal series.

Even with the tough schedule, I don't think the Spurs end up with 7th or 8th..if the team plays like they have been lately, I think we'll get the 5th or 6th seed, which would be fine with me..if Denver loses Martin, they're beatable..pretty much any team other than LA and Dallas is beatable early(if Kenyon Martin is out)..

I'd rather get the pick, but it's too late for that..Houston, Memphis and New Orleans apparently aren't interested in making the playoffs..
