Nuggets' Anthony Fined $7,500 for Shove

The Associated Press
Monday, May 2, 2005; 2:57 PM

NEW YORK -- Denver forward Carmelo Anthony was fined $7,500 by the NBA on Monday for shoving San Antonio guard Manu Ginobili during Game 3 of the first-round playoff series between the Nuggets and Spurs.

Anthony received a flagrant foul and was ejected with 22 seconds left in the fourth period of the Nuggets' 86-78 loss to the Spurs on Saturday night. The Spurs lead the best-of-seven series 2-1, with Game 4 Monday night in Denver.

Anthony finished with 19 points in Game 3 in Denver while Ginobili came off the bench to score 32 points.

The fine was announced by league vice president Stu Jackson.

Looks like the Spurs will have to take matters into their own hands...

I guess shoving sounds better than hitting or clubbing.

Thanks for the info Kori...I'll be sure to inform the Nugget fans that for some reason don't show up anymore.

Have you been posting on their board? Are they treating you well?

Yeah I've posted there since a few days before game one. Most are okay...it's just the ones that get riled up easily by Spur-trolls that kinda get on me. I can take care of myself pretty good though :)

The $7500 fine, probably didn't make him blink twice. And they say the Spurs play rough and unfair. :rolleyes

Based on his 82-game salary, what is $7500 in his minutes?

Why should we be suprisied.

If it was a Spur he would be banned for life.

No problem, Bowen just has to break out his "Ultra" defense tonight.

Damn that's depressing TimVP. What kind of society do we live in where assholes like Carmelo make 7500 bucks in 9 minutes ? :depressed

Let's just hope the Thuggets don't take advice from some of the Denver press and try to take somebody out... That would be pretty fing low...

What's the point of even fining melo $7,500 if he carries that much up his ass.

7,500 is pocket change for that fucker.

Because the league has to make it look like they care even when its blatant and obvious they really dont.

This way when a player that isnt one of the poster kids for the NBA does something like this they can fine him 75k and say "we already gave out a warning" [/conspiracy]

Did anyone really think the league would suspend Denvers only hope of winning another game in this series?

I'm surprised they even fined him.

Please, Anthony has had no effect on this series to this point and he never will. His only hope is a one on one matchup on the baseline and the Spurs arent allowing that. As long as we continue to limit the fast break opportunities Melo is easily kept in check.

Tonight I think we are going to really have to keep tabs on Boykins. He is primed and ready to go off. I also think that Denver makes an attempt to get it into the post more and get K-Mart into the game early.

If we can weather the storm early i think this game ends up somewhere between games 2 and 3.

Uhhh, whatever, Boyins is easily the most overrated player coming into the playoffs I've ever seen.

Beno Udrih has outplayed him the last two games easily.

Anyway, to get back to the topic. Isn't Carmelo's jersey in the top two or three in sales? The NBA fined him. That's more than I expected.

Which is why I said primed and ready to go off, because he hasnt yet. Hate all you want but the guy was a difference maker for Denver this year. He is lightening quick and he can shoot. On top of that when he comes in Denver goes to the zone and their defense actually gets better.

What really sucks about this is some Denver Thuggett is going to look at that $7500 slap on the wrist and see it as the league's blessing to go headhunting for Manu.

Fuck you David Stern. If anything happens to him, it's on your hands.

If something happens to Duncan Parker or Manu, there's going to be a bloodbath. They might have to cancel the series. The Spurs and their fans have been through having their second best player (and their season) taken out by a wannabe team that coudn't compete.
