Definitely something wrong. Locker room issues? something..the team doesn't look like a team..but a bunch of individual players playing for themselves rather than for each other..from what I'm seeing.

They just had a great analysis on NBA TV showing that Kobe is far from the only player on LA who might be taking a few shots he shouldn't. That Shannon Brown off the dribble fade away was a joke.

Lakers don't defend the 3 point shot.

Fixed.

The strategy is to leave 3 point shooters open and shut down the paint. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

As soon as we gave Shannon Brown a contract after the championship, he started playing like he thought he was Kobe Bryant.

And i'm not in the least bit kidding about that. He's a completely different player now.

Yeah it's def. a teamwide problem. I know people will say "Kobe is the leader so it's his fault" but they're all grown men it's not Kobe's job to babysit.

The Raptors are a horrible 2nd half team, Lakers will be fine in this game..no, I'm not jinxing, they actually are a horrible team in the 2nd half..

As for Kobe, his "ball-hogging" is actually the one thing I don't usually criticize him for, but even the people that criticize him obviously realize that guys like Farmar and Brown constantly take horrible shots all the time, they're obviously low-IQ players..

The turning point I saw with him was when he dropped 20 points on Orlando. Since that game I've watched him take some moronic shots and act like he's a stud.

picc84
03-09-2010, 11:55 PM
We just have too much talent. The team just wants to lull everyone into a false sense of security before unleashing their wrath. :sleep

But seriously, Phil Jackson is doing a very underwhelming job in managing the talent/players on this team. Half of our problems are things that tweaks from him could change, but he refuses because he's a stubborn arrogant ass.

The other half are things that could have been solved at the trade deadline, but Mitch Kupchak thought Derek Fisher's timeout-huddle speeches were more important than Kirk Hinrich's actual basketball ability.

Lakers have no clue how to use the triangle against the zone. I don't understand why most teams don't zone them the majority of the game. It's not like its an anomaly.

Great shot by Kobe, he's really been uncharacteristically clutch this season, he's usually a very poor clutch shooter..he deserves credit for stepping his game up in clutch time this season though, he's learned well from Lebron:D..he also owns the Raptors like no other, which is probably why there are so many Laker fans there..

The Lakers have needed like 7 GW shots from Kobe for wins this season though, should be kind of alarming..those other guys are really losing their balls and hoping he bails them out down the stretch..

Do you have your couple Laker paragraphs saved and just change the names occasionally cause it's the same ole shtick. You cannot even compliment a good game by Kobe without making it all about showing your obsessive banality.

I said it was a great game, didn't I?..I don't understand what you want..

Do you disagree that it sucks that the Lakers have had to rely on Kobe to win 6 or 7 games for them on game winners?..I know you're a Laker fan and not just a Kobe fan, so I would assume that you would rather see your team dominating like they're supposed to..

Props to Kobe. But you have to be honest here. The Lakers won 7 games this season from a Kobe game winner. As a team, I dont think they have "repeat" written on them. Games like these are good for Kobe's personal glory, but its going to hurt them come playoff time. Seems to me they rely so much on Kobe to bail them out. Worst most are from barely 500 teams (Bucks, Heat, Grizz, Kings,Raptors)

Chalk it up as another one that the refs handed to the Lakers. Raptors up going into the fourth when all of a sudden the Lakers mysteriously appear at the line about ten times in the span of two minutes. On one, Bryant out of control runs into the lane and throws himself into the Raptor, on another Bryant's in the post, turns, Wright's arms are straight up, yet he's called for the foul. On a few others, I don't even know where the "foul" occurred.

Worst of all, not a thing about this was surprising. In fact, with 1:15 to go in the 3rd, I told my brother how the remainder of the game would unfold. Sure enough, I had it down to a tee. It's predictable. After all, the league couldn't have the Lakers lose their fourth straight, as their stranglehold on the West shrinks by the day. They're already not going to have home court in the finals, they can't have them not having it in the conference finals because then they might actually lose and not make the finals and that would be a major loss in ratings and that's what it's all about because it's sure as hell not about credibility.

Your hating the Lakers and Kobe is not a "shtick". That is your obsession.

Your "shtick" is having to post about your obsession and saying the same crap over and over and over.

"Ellipsis (plural ellipses; from the Greek (http://www.spurstalk.com/wiki/Greek_language): ἔλλειψις, élleipsis, "omission") is a mark or series of marks that usually indicate an intentional omission of a word or a phrase from the original text. An ellipsis can also be used to indicate a pause in speech, an unfinished thought, or, at the end of a sentence, a trailing off into silence (aposiopesis (http://www.spurstalk.com/wiki/Aposiopesis)) (apostrophe and elipsis mixed). The ellipsis calls for a slight pause in speech.

The most common form of an ellipsis is a row of three periods or full stops (...) or pre-composed triple-dot glyph (…). The usage of the em dash (—) can overlap the usage of ellipsis.

The triple-dot punctuation mark is also called a suspension point, points of ellipsis, periods of ellipsis, or colloquially (http://www.spurstalk.com/wiki/Colloquialism), dot-dot-dot."

Yet we are the ones laughing at you. Of course there are times when the Lakers get the benefit of the calls. They are after all the storied franchise of the league. But there are also calls that go against them but funny how those never get brought up. And to suggest the Lakers get more than any other elite team just shows that you really dont watch the games. Watch the Cavs play lately? Check out the picking style of the Celts and get back to me. Etc etc etc...

Those stats do absolutely nothing for your argument. Not every single foul comes right at the rim. A lot of fouls for guards come on the perimeter from blowing past your man and getting held. Truth is, Kevin Martin has a quicker first step than Kobe, which allows him to draw more fouls. Guards with size and quick first steps are probably the types of players are are most susceptible to foul. D-Wade has possibly the quickest first step ever, and that allows him to constantly get to the line. MJ had an explosive first step. Lebron's first step is ridiculous too.

Most people, even the biggest of Kobe fans, knows that he settles for jumpers wayyyy too much, which may be his biggest weakness as a basketball player (not saying its a massive weakness, as he has very few weaknesses which makes him such a great player, but out of the few he has, its arguably his biggest)

all i was saying is that the other guys are at this point, more able to draw fouls due to an advantage they have in athleticism. when kobe was their age, he was shooting around 10 fts a game as well. I still think Kobe is in the top 3 along with Bron and Wade (I think they are all pretty much tied for the top spot, but they all accel in different ways - Kobe is the most skilled, Wade is the most aggressive, and Bron is the most gifted)

I say let him have long jumpers, but if he gets picks or drives, double him immediately and force the ball out of his hands. Just whatever you do, don't let him get inside and either get an easy bucket, or create for others. Mavs did that extremely well the last time they played.

You get stupider by the second, I swear.

I never was saying that he gets favoritism (although he definitely used to in the past... when he was also more aggressive of a player, and when he decides to be aggressive, he gets as many ticky-tack fouls called for him as anyone in the league). But you, along with other moron Lakerfans almost seem to believe that he doesnt get enough calls. All I've said is that he doesnt attack as much as other players, which is why he doesnt get to the line as much.

You can get more shots at the rim if you play for an uptempo team that likes to get out on the break, and get easy, uncontested buckets, but it doesnt mean that you are attacking more than another player. The Lakers like to run a lot, and are quite good at it. Also keep in mind, when you draw fouls, they dont count as FGAs, so while guys like Kevin Martin definitely gets to the rim more than 3 times a game, they are resulting in free-throws obviously. But you are probably too stupid to understand that concept.

Maybe not Kobe but the Lakers in general.

2010
Orlando: +141
Lakers: +106
Denver: +92
Dallas: +83
Cleveland: +42
Boston: -6

These are personal fouls called in favor from basketball reference. This means that the Lakers were called for 106 less fouls than their opponents throughout this season thus far.

Most of Dirk's shots are from the outside, yet he's only shooting .1 less free throws per game than Kobe.

Same situation as guys like Wade and Martin. He often has bigger guys on him, and is quicker than most, so when he drives, he often draws fouls. Then if he has small guys on him, he works them in the high post, and often draws reaching fouls because he has suprisingly good handles for such a big guy, or he will back them down to a point where they pretty much have to foul, or he will get a 10 foot midrange, which is pretty much automatic for him, whether hes on or off balance. Dirk's ability to draw fouls comes because he is such a massive mismatch, arguably the biggest mismatch machine in the NBA, which is what makes him such an effective and deadly player, even though he may not be as skilled as plenty of others. He just has such an unusual skillset for a big guy.

I never said you said that. I just said it seems that way, by the manner in which you idiots are arguing, saying that Kevin Martin or Dirk gets more FTs despite being "shooters". But once again, your argument is skewed, and narrowminded.

I never said anything about him getting favorable calls. Just that others attack more, and therefore get more FTAs than he does.

Lakers fans = the biggest joke in the league and every time anyone calls you guys on it, it's "you're delusional, you're jealous, you don't watch the games". Fuck, come up with something new. You honestly want me to delve into the countless, indisputable examples over the years of the Lakers receiving favorable officiating? I guess everyone just hates the Lakers, that's what it is.

Funny, I don't remember there being a widespread belief that the Spurs received over the top (there's a perception that all top teams to an extent receive the benefit of the doubt) favorable officiating when they were on top and nobody (outside of obviously Spurs fans) liked the Spurs. The reality is people aren't blind, they know what they're seeing and even though I find since the Donaghy scandal it's less prevalent, the Lakers still receiving favorable officiating.

Nah, people are blind.

If you just read the Laker game threads, non-Laker fans only point out the calls that go in favor of the Lakers. They ignore the ones that favor the other team.

If you don't believe me; just go through the Laker game threads, the ref calls are always one-sided as if the Lakers are the only ones getting the calls. Very biased around these parts.

There are even a buncha threads saying the Spurs won their 4 titles honestly while the Lakers won their last 4 dishonestly...is that un-biased?

Hey, this is a Spurs forum; I understand that and the anti-Lakers bias. But let's not pretend the anti-Laker bias doesn't exist...it's pretty obvious :lol
