Now I agree suspicions should have been raised, and the coupon verified. However, someone has cracked the data sequence and know how to bar-code. Such phony coupons do work on some systems. If the originator of the coupon is ever found, this can be serious jail time. Not just for the theft, but forgery as well.

The picture came from 4chan which hosts an anonymous posting board. I've done searches to find similar receipts and stories, all of them deleted from 4chan but some still available in cache. I suspect the picture was taken down from the hosting site by law enforcement as evidence and will be used in an investigation. It's just a fucking PS3 though, this will probably get a fine (in addition to paying back the $300 it's worth) and 1 year probation without going to a jury.

I am simply tired of crime. I have grudgingly come to the conclusion that 1st degree crimes against other individual need serious penalties. If people cannot live in society, in a civil manner, then why should they live?

A first degree crime is premeditated. It is planned, not out of passion of the moment. To plan a crime and carry it out against others needs to be dealt with harshly.

You're safe with that one, but like I said go around looking for similar stories and see that all you will find is cached images because they are actively removed when 1) the police can get involved or 2) the police are already involved. I went with option 2, but maybe the pic was INDEED removed by the theif. Still, I give you the double facepalm!
