so first go to settings, about phone and status. look for up time and sleep time...if it's 100% it basically means the phone never sleeps. constantly updating the weather, having wifi on, satellite on, locale on and the big problem is that the default SMS app doesn't "let" the phone go to sleep so it's on ALL the time. i just got one and the battery didn't last more than 5 hours on standby. i made some changes and now i'm getting over a day with moderate to heavy usage. let me know what it says and i'll let you know.

Up time says 149:34
There is no sleep time though. Just Awake Time, which is 53:29 and counting

you should have a percentage though in that same screen at the bottom

that's right...awake time...well then you're good. mine was at 100% and is now around 12%. the way around that is to download a new sms app....i use handcent...and make that the default messaging app. i also turned off the constant weather updates and got apps to turn off the satellite and wifi with just a click. i also installed a task killer app that i use just before putting it to sleep.

I'll look into that. Thanks Blizz. I wanna drop my awake time to about 20%.

if you're gonna do the sms thing...install handcent and go and compose a new sms...it'll ask you to choose a default app...choose handcent or whatever app you use. then make sure you go to the settings of the message app and tell it NOT to notify you and NOT to check for msgs. android 2.1 is supposed to take care of this but who knows when sprint is gonna do it.

no shit...sprint sure is taking their time...but i'd rather them get it right the first time.

Don't use a Task Killer...I had one...didn't really help...actually did more harm than good...just have everything update manually...e-mail...weather...having those update all the time will DRAIN the hell out of your battery...and yes...turn off GPS and Wi-Fi...have the phone to go Dim or Lock like after 30 seconds of non use...I can get about 2-3 days of battery life...great phone...looking forward to the new software...
