Yes or no?

How come some say Kobe is player of the decade ?

Is there any official news about who named the PLAYER OF THE DECADE?

There's no "official" player of the decade, but if you're talking about the TNT fan voting, then obviously Kobe won..Lebron was 2nd..

Depends who you want to believe. Sports writers, fan votes...

Sports Illustrated said Duncan.

Most others had Kobe.

There are a lot of the lists in the Duncan Forum, starting around late September through December.

WOW! I was just looking through google at other POTD stuff and came across this:

Hilarious. It's a guy who knows nothing about Tim Duncan trying to argue why Kobe is better than Tim. I also lol'd when he said Timmy had no 50 point games, when he actually does have a 53 point game under his belt. Not to mention that Kobe has such high scoring numbers because his team's during that period sucked cock and he had to take 40 shots a game.

Like Dwyer said (to paraphrase) "if you really deal with the game at the level it deserves, you know it's not even a question, Duncan is the best player of the decade". That about sums it up.

It can't be official, because it's a subjective exercise. But if you followed the league closely and know the game well enough, you know Duncan was the best. He did it without another all-time great teammate (Robinson was not playing at said level when Duncan arrived), he did it without a single major offensive threat on the perimeter until '04, he did it without his team annually having a bloated payroll, he did it without shady trades and even more shadier officiating benefiting his team on a consistent basis, he did it with all around dominance that went beyond scoring, he did it while always being the unquestioned best player on his team, he did it while remaining eerily consistent year after year and perhaps more impressive than any of this, he did it all with class.
