Thompson averaged 24 PPg over 3 games in Portsmouth. he will likely still go undrafted. but it was a pretty loud reminder he should be considered for a 2nd round pick in front of the GMs of half the NBA.

Thompson talked to The Trentonian by phone before boarding a flight for San Antonio, where he'll work out Wednesday for the Spurs.

If he goes undrafted hes probably my first call at pick 60 as far as camp invites go. And frankly, if we're going to have the roster room he might make sense at 49 depending on what else is there.

Hes smart, can shoot, and has good effort on defense. While he has great size and good length his athleticism will always be an issue. Still, as a bench wing he could have a long NBA career depending on his future development.

well, that's the problem. he was measured in Portsmouth. the result:
height without shoes: 6' 5"
weight: 214 lbs
wingspan: 6' 8.5"
standing reach: 8' 5.5"

this is a below average size for a NBA wing and no ridiculous wingspan to compensate. standing reach is even pretty poor.

If he has some good workouts with the Spurs I wouldn't mind him being the second round pick. High BBIQ and works hard on defense.

supposedly he was brought in for a 2nd work out.
he is one of the players who should be on the board at #49, good chance he goes undrafted. Spurs are probably already looking for summer league and/or camp invitees.

Ryan Thompson, the younger brother of Kings forward Jason Thompson, could be headed to camp with San Antonio, Petrie said.

Ryan played on the Kings summer league team.

Training camp fodder at most. This is the difference between people who won the genetic lottery and people who didn't. Those who did make it to the NBA based on potential. Those who don't, even if they have the skills, would be sent packing to play in Europe.

Not everyone is as lucky to be given a chance.

He worked out twice with Spurs so they must like him.

Given Spurs' depth at the SG spot, it won't be easy for him to make the final roster. If he doesn't go to Europe, he could end up in Austin via the D-League draft like Alonzo Gee last year.

Why would we need any more 6'5" clones?
