George Hill...A Rising Force of Goodwill (http://www.nba.com/spurs/features/100317_rodriguez.html)
Ken Rodriguez
Spurs.com

George Hill knows how to deliver a moment. A steal from Kobe followed by a soaring slam. An impossible, twisting, reverse layup in traffic. A surprise visit to a young cancer victim who gets tickets, a jersey, an autographed ball and a pass to the Spurs locker room.

You may have seen the first two on SportsCenter. You certainly didn't see the third. ESPN didn't know when Hill gave 15-year-old Lane Chandler a day to remember. Almost no one else knew either until the gift-splurging facts spread by word of mouth.

George did what?

Keep Reading... (http://www.nba.com/spurs/features/100317_rodriguez.html)

Amazing stories, love it. :tu

Between this kind of stuff and what George is doing on the court, I'm sure the Spurs would love to extend his contract. If I understand the CBA correctly, they'll be eligible to do so from July to October 2011; hopefully the potential lockout doesn't impact the negotiations too severely.

Edit: Of course, the Spurs will probably benefit salary-wise by having him eligible to be extended in 2011 and not 2010.

THANKS alot man, ya when he got drafted by the spurs I immediately went searching for what spurs fans were saying about the pick and found ST immediately.. and I knew they were going to be saying who the hell is that. and wanted to give my input on his potential..

Glad im back as much as I can be.. these boards are great interaction, I missed the commentary of every little detail.

the pics are just representing what he and I told Ken... if he doesn't like it he can yell at me later... I don't see anything really private about the commentary, he knows I was up on here trying to quell the hating when he was drafted.. not sure if he comes on these forums or not these days.. hes pretty hard to get in touch with.

Nah, I wasn't implying you were doing anything out of line ... I was just wondering if you two had discussed what he'd be cool with sharing; having a childhood friend/family member become a famous ball-player would seem to produce a little more caution and trepidation with all the vultures out there. (It's actually pretty refreshing when you find out your favorite players are real, genuine people.)

If your relationship is anything like the one I had with the friend I grew up with ... George is fortunate you haven't brought out the heavy artillery and embarrassed the hell out of him. :lol

Again, all the best to your pops and you've definitely got an ally here when it comes to #3.

Every so often we get a story about a Spur that makes us appreciate the Spurs organization's commitment to bringing men of character like George Hill onto the team and who become a valued part of the community, not just passing their time here as part of their job.

Just look at all the Spurs, whether superstars like David Robinson or role players like William Franklin, who have made San Antonio their permanent home and continue to contribute their time, energy, celebrity, and money to making it a better place. The list is seemingly endless.

George Hill is well on his way to becoming a part of the mutual love affair between San Antonio and the Spurs.

Here's to you George. Welcome to the Spurs family.:clap

Hill before the Magic game.

Anytime you're in charge of a team with Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili there's a lot on your shoulders. The expectations are high. But somebody had to step up. I wanted to be that guy, the guy who helped us win games.

I felt last season that I deserved to be here, but it was just a matter of getting my feet wet. It's just basketball. I know what to expect now, and my teammates know what to expect of me.

This is not intimidating. This was my dream to play in the NBA, and to be a great player with responsibility on my shoulders. I've taken that challenge with open arms.
