If it wasn't for the refs, the Spurs would've destroyed them by twenty... at least.

He better get fined. They slapped a $100 grand fine on Van Gundy and they didn't fine George a cent for his last tirade. Better yet, revoke his coaching license.

WGAF? His shit is weak, and makes his team feel sorry for themselves instead of play basketball.

Personal fouls:
SA 36
pussies 37

FTA
SA 39-45
pussies 38-46

The difference in this game was from beyond the arc.

First, Karl looked totally defeated. He mentioned the Boykins 2 which should of been a 3 and that Ginobili flopped towards the end. He really was grasping for reasons the Nuggets lost the game. It was pretty comical to watch him try not to make excuses then actually make some.

I suprised he didn't try to blame it on the altitude. I think I remember someone mentioning that the thin air up there is harder to breath or something...

It was actually crap calls all the way around. I'm objective enough to know that the Spurs got some calls that went their way when they shouldn't have but that was probably because the whole game was a whistlefest. There where bad calls that went both ways. Sometimes I wonder if one of the refs notices anothers bias against a team and then he feels compelled to set the record straight. Then everything becomes a series of who was wronged and what cheap call can we make to make it right.

They lost because they weren't as good. Period. They closed the gap, and got a 3 point lead, and then their balls went up into their abdomens. They choked under pressure.

What do you expect following a game that got out of control? What do you expect following a game where so many people complained about the officiating? What do you expect following a game where an all-star was flagrant fouled by a player the NBA didn't want to have to suspend?

I'm surprised at all the complaining. You come out of a big road playoff game shooting 1 fewer free throw than your opponent, count yourself lucky.

I was worried this would happen. :)

Karl was upset about the Boykins 2. I think he probably should have been.

But after that, he spend ten minutes crediting the Spurs for their great play. He didn't blame the loss on the refs, he said he was bothered by a couple of calls. There is a BIG difference between the two.

Is there a written record of what he said anywhere yet?

In all honesty I think he has every right to be bothered by a couple of the calls, but no more right than Pop would. Man was that game hard to watch.

If he didn't want a closely called game, he shouldn't have had his guys clobber the star of the other team and then have the balls to complain about the calls. The NBA was obviously concerned about the safety of the players. He made his bed. If he didn't think his team could win a free throw contest he should have probably followed Rasheed's lead and said "both teams played hard".

Even after all the crap calls and bitching by Denver
still loosers.
I just want to know how the fuck Gino did not get that call at
the end of regulation, I mean it was all arm. I was so pissed off.

Duncan's fifth foul was BS, but if that wrist tap was a foul, how could the arm bar lock on Ginobili on the very next play not be a foul??!! That was insane.

David Stern thinks he's being clever by keeping games close, but in the end he's going to lose the large audience he craves because many really are starting to question the legitimacy of the NBA.

The missed call on Boykins had to be some sort of karma -- the charge call on Parker in 3rd was hilarious and the block called on Bowen (when he stood straight up and didn't move, but somehow was whistled for impeding Carmelo's drive) was garbage. Sure, they might have missed Boykins foot, but Denver had points they shouldn't have had before that point.

And it's funny -- I didn't hear Karl complaining about the phantom 6th foul on Duncan or the bailout at the end of regulation on Anthony followed by the lack of a whistle at the other end. (of course, he wouldn't complain about those things).

On a broader scale, I think this series has turned George Karl into Don Nelson without the cocktails and technicals -- curious lineups, no commitment to any particular style of play, complaints about what an unfair shake his team gets, and in the end, an understanding that the Spurs can beat you playing your style just as sure as they can beat you playing their style.

George Karl can goto hell.

He is nothing more than a gimmick coach trying to play the game. George Karl has gone from place to place in his coaching career for a reason.

His loathing about the officiating is comical though. I hope we goto playoff style officiating in Game 5. Enough of this crap.

I don't think people are going to stop watching because of conspiracy drama. It would probably increase ratings, actually.

There was something definitely wrong with the officiating last game. I don't care if it goes both ways or not. Usually one side gets less calls anyway. The ultimate result was the refs became a huge part of the game. They were anything but a constant, they were a variable.

I don't like the idea of evening out the team fouls after the referees look at what number fouls each team has.

I also think Dick Bavetta needs to retire because now he just looks like an old man going out there making calls for attention. He makes the wrong calls on a consistant basis.

I think the officiating was horrendous last night and I'm not saying that I thought it favored the Nuggets, I'm just saying it was a horriblly officiated game and I think it was at least partially premeditated.

Dick Bavetta needs to retire.
