So Spurs fans know since they are talk about it in Spurs forum, PAO from what I hear is willing to offer more to Splitter. They had meeting with Splitter's agent and after they made first offer they have increased it to max they can offer after Splitter asked for more. Also they found out Spurs can offer less money than they thought because of NBA cap will shrink this summer because NBA lost money.
The amount can be up to 4.15 million euros net incomes per season in 3 years for Splitter from PAO.
So amount is = $12.2 million per season in NBA since NBA contract does not include deductions from player union retirement fee (8%), agent fee (4%), and taxes coming from it (35%) and since European salary is list after such expenses are already paid for.
So from what I hear maximum amount Splitter can be offer from PAO is = to 3 years and $36.6 million NBA contract.
So this means Splitter would make in 3 years in PAO more than what he can make in 5 years in San Antonio by over $7 million. PAO has talked with his agent and they say NBA MLE is going down this summer to only 5 million. So Splitter can only make
$5,000,000
$5,400,000
$5,832,000
$6,298,056
$6,802,445
in 5 years in Spurs this will = $29,332,501
So PAO offer will be $7,267,499 more money in total than Spurs can offer and it will be in just 3 years while Spurs would be in 5 years. So basic in 3 years Splitter will make over $7 million more in PAO than in 5 years with Spurs.
PAO owners after talking with Splitter's agent and are confident he will sign this summer.
However if Spurs can make sign and trade with other NBA team then Splitter can get more money and this is possible he can go to NBA then. This is what his agent says to PAO. Reason is because PAO has told his agent they cannot offer much more than this amount. PAO basketball club budget has been cut to 27 million euros because the basketball owners have spent 100 million euros to buy 44% share of the soccer club and also 130 million euros to build the new arena for the soccer club and the new domestic league arena for the basketball club.
So the amount PAO is offering then to Splitter is about where they are limited to. So basically this will mean Spurs cannot afford Splitter and they can either let him sign in PAO or try to sign and trade him, but only if it is to NBA team that can spend more than $37 million on him in 3 years. Otherwise he will play next 3 years in PAO and then he will join Spurs after that. PAO was told by Splitter's agent that he does not want to play more than 3 years more in Europe and after another 3 years for sure he would go to NBA.
