View Full Version : Big Dog Stepping up on "D"

Did anyone else think Robinson made a conscientious effort to play some good defense tonight?

I love the way he played Melo. He was active and physical. He moved his feet. He got a steal. Don't get me wrong, Bruce Bowen has played great and I don't think we win the championship without him. But damn, if Big Dog is decent on the defensive end, he presents one more thing for the opposition to think about.

Well he brought a lot of energy but I don't think 3 fouls in 45 seconds, even in this game, is really "stepping up". Boykins ran right past him to score that last bucket of the first half. If he had kept his eyes open he could have beat him to the baseline and forced him back towards his help. With that said I thought he was going to be a damn disaster for the Spurs, particularly his D, and I must say I've been pleasantly surprised.

For him, I think he's stepping up. It looks like he is doing what he is asked to do. That is a great sign, imo.

Thats all that counts.. Hes not going to start shit here like he did when he played with all the other teams he was on. Timmys our regulator, its contagious.

lol, I think he knows his not going to be logging heavy minutes.

If his on the verge of being beat he can just give the foul rather than concede.

When playing with that advantage its pretty hard for the offensive player.

I think you'll see him get more playing time based on his performance.

Big Dog was kicking Carmelo's ass until the refs went touch foul all over his ass.

2 of Glenn's 3 fouls were bullshit ticky tack stuff.

agreed.

Robinson played well in the minutes he had.

Big Dog makin it tough on Pop on who to play.

I thought big dog did a really good job on defense!! Ya he got 3 quick fouls, but who didnt? The 3 he hit was huge at that time because the nuggets had the momentum....As long as he stays active I don't mind him being out there.

He did a good job on a few possessions of forcing Anthony away from the basket to catch the ball, then driving him towards the baseline into the help defender in the post.

He's learning.

I will admit that I was pleasantly surprised with Robinson's effectiveness on defense last night. It's great to see that we have another option off the bench who won't be a complete liability on one end of the floor.

Melo's nightmare last night:

Good points. I can only add that Glenn did a decent job of eliminating some 2nd chance points by boxing out and getting good position on Melo, before and after the shot went up.

He figured out that if he wants minutes, he needs to play defense... Didn't he also get a steal?

If he can D up like that then no need to worry about the backup 3. While I must admit I was skeptical about his signing and potential impact, thusfar it's looking like a shrewd move.

Big Dog played some D last night. That steal was cool.

Also, did you guys notice Barry play some darn good D too.

Pop is a witch when it comes to teaching Defense.

A witch with a big switch to beat you with: no D, no minutes.

Yeah, but that supposedly is a "Bad thing"

Wow, what a suprise, pop actually knows more than some internet bumpking posters.

No one's on here criticizing Pop's defensive acumen. What a surprise, you don't get it for the 45,382nd time. Classic.

I don't mean to shift the subject, but I'd like to point out that Beno held his own on D as well. Rasho's D was huge in the limited amount of time he played. Big Dog was doing great until the foul fest began (they were going to call that shit on anyone who was guarding cornrowho).

That steal on the post was awesome. I was stunned no foul was called on it, just out of habit.
