I just watched the press conference after last night's game and I could swear I was hearing a baby cry again just like last night at the GTG.

I think from now on that baby will always be there to be heard crying whenever I see Karl anywhere.....

Thanks a lot ex!

I just want to see this bitch cry again.

This has nothing to do with him being a Spurs' playoff opponent. I like Earl. Cotton Camby has impressed me in this series. But Martin is such a waste. He's the biggest frontrunning crybaby in the league. He left last night's game as if he had just scored 32 points, not 12 when he fouled out. Hopefully he leaves this season with a vintage 3 for 23 performance tomorrow night. Fuck him.

I would usually say that a beatdown from the Spurs would be unlikely, because the Nuggets are going to play like its an elimination game...which it is for them. But after seeing thier body language last night, I think the Spurs broke their spirits.

The Spurs broke them in game 3. Last night was just icing.

The last thing Denver wants is for a pissed off Spurs team to come back to Denver to complete the humiliation in front of their own fans. I'm hoping it gets up to a nice comfortable 35 point lead in the 3rd quarter, and Karl runs up the white hankey.

nope, their spirits weren't broke in game 3,
they just came fired up and better equiped, which translated in a OT,
their spirits were broke yesterday,
they'll suffer in game 5,really suffer.

I think it will be close through the middle of the 2nd quarter...then the Spurs will methodically pull away and run away and the Nuggets will hide.

Nuggets 85

Game 1 was a fluke b/c the Spurs went 0-17, game 2 the Spurs were feeding off the emotion of that loss. Game 3 was what game 1 really should of been like, a grind it out win for the Spurs. Game 4: broke the Nuggets spirits, and now game 5 should be a blowout

Here's to hoping the Spurs break it off in their ass on Wednesday.

I finally figured out what the problem was with Karl this series. Those games going past midnight in Denver kept him up past his bedtime! No wonder he was so cranky! I think the Spurs will stop that from happening because that thing will be over by midway through the third. The Nugs will try to make it respectable and come out angry but even they know they're just trying to ice skate uphill against the Spurs. It ends tomorrow night.

Yes i agree, I want us to finish this game on a very high note. I want the first half to be extremly competitive and hard. Then i want to come out of the gates in the 3rd and put this "Dark Horse" of a team to bed.
Dark horse...man thats so lame

The spurs are the freakin Dark horse, nah, screw that, they're the grim reapers of this year's playoffs....Especially my main man Manny G.

Kenyon Martin #6 of the Denver Nuggets gets a pat on the head from Tim Duncan #21 of the San Antonio Spurs after fouling out in the fourth quarter of Game four of the Western Conference Quarterfinals in overtime during the 2005 NBA Playoffs at the Pepsi Center on May 2, 2005 in Denver, Colorado. The Spurs won 126-115.

Yeah, Denver might hang around for a while, but the Spurs know that they don't want to travel back to Denver, especially with the Sonics already having moved on.

They'll take care of business and meet Seattle this weekend.

but, if you were to check out the game stats for game 4, both teams have ALMOST THE SAME in rdbs, FG% & FT%

FG%
Spurs=40-83( 48%)
Denv=38-83(45%)

FT Spurs=39-45(86%)
Denv=38-46(82%)

Rbds Spurs=40 rbds
Denv=40 rbds

turnovers Spurs=11
Nuggest=10
steals Spurs = 4
Nuggets =4

but, we beat them from the arc
Spurs=7-19(36%)=21 pts.
Denv=1-8(12%) = 3 pts.

the Nuggets simply lack threats from the 3pt area.

expect more 3pts in the next game. i think they will try to use Wesley Pearson, he is a good 3ptr. they can adjust.
Too bad for them, they didn't include Voshon Lenard in their playoff roster, he was once a 42% , he can be a real pest.

Martin's production must match contract
Mark Kiszla
Denver Post Staff Columnist

When it comes to mugging for the camera, nobody in the NBA is in Kenyon Martin's league.

Nobody tugs on his own jersey with more look-at-me flair than Martin does after throwing down a dunk for the Nuggets.

Martin cups a hand to his ear, imploring the Denver audience for noise, with the most conviction in the business.

From Brian Dennehy to Nathan Lane, there is not a plus-size actor this side of Broadway with a bigger stage presence than Martin.

The Nuggets, however, are not paying him $90 million over seven years to be a 6-foot-9 thespian.

Here is where Martin must earn his money.

A money player comes up big in the playoffs.

"To be successful in a playoff game, you usually have to fight to get through. It just doesn't open up for you," Nuggets coach George Karl said Saturday.

"The greatness of the playoffs is players are pushed to go further. They're pushed to be smarter, to be stronger, to overcome fatigue, to persevere through defeat and to think strong thoughts."

The playoffs are why Denver surrendered three future first-round draft picks and a Brink's truck to acquire Martin from the New Jersey Nets.

During the opening round, which begins for Denver today in San Antonio, all Martin has to do is beat Tim Duncan, as polite as a Texas cowboy and twice as tough. How tough?

The last time Martin faced Duncan in the playoffs, the meanest actor in the NBA blinked.

I would not have believed Martin backed down, if I did not see it with my own eyes.

In 2003, the NBA Finals between the Spurs and Nets were stuck somewhere in the swamps of Jersey, tied at two victories apiece. Through four games, Martin fought like the fiercest power forward on the planet. Duncan performed like the most powerful hoops force in the universe.

With everything on the line in Game 5, Duncan brought 29 points and 17 rebounds.

Martin stunk, making 2-of-8 field-goal attempts.

After the crucial 10-point road victory that resulted, the Spurs were fit to be crowned as league champs.

Oh, Martin had legitimate excuses for his lousy luck. He had missed practices with the flu. The game was played on Friday the 13th.

Martin bravely refused to blame anybody but himself.

"It was bad game at the wrong time," said Martin, sick with lost opportunity on that June night two years ago. "I put it on my shoulders."

Duncan was named MVP of the Finals, with omigosh stats of 24 points, 17 rebounds, five assists and five blocks per game.

In two losses that blew New Jersey out of the series, Martin cracked under the strain, missing 26-of-31 shots. He finished the Finals with an ugly 34.2 field-goal percentage.

That look of defeat on

Martin's face is what I remembered when the Nuggets made him their highest-paid player.
Magic Johnson, who knows a little about basketball, described Martin better than I ever could when the greatest point guard who ever lived said just because you pay a man a go-to salary it does not make him a go-to player.

I do like Martin, if for nothing else his knack for making reporters duck and run for cover with nothing more than a scowl. He plays the role of enforcer more convincingly than any Hollywood actor on the big screen since Samuel L. Jackson punctuated Bible verses with gunshots in "Pulp Fiction."

Attitude is what Martin does best. He has force-fed the Nuggets a much-needed infusion of mean that makes Denver a scary team in the postseason.

"It's our attitude, our swagger, the way we approach the game," Martin said last week.

But nine out of 10 accountants, and every NBA general manager with a brain, would agree $90 million is a whole lot of moola to give a player who averaged 15 points and seven rebounds for the Nuggets in the prime of his NBA career.

In the feel-good story of Denver's remarkable comeback season, Martin ranked no higher than No. 5 on the list of heroes, behind Marcus Camby, Karl, Carmelo Anthony and Andre Miller.

The team's playoff motto is: Believe. And I strongly believe Denver has far more than a puncher's chance against San Antonio, especially with Duncan hobbling on a gimpy ankle.

The Nuggets require more than swagger from Martin. K-Mart must turn on the blue light and be special.

Great quote. I always thought KMart was overrated, but this series is showing me he is truly awful. This guy thinks he's a great big stud when he goaltends Duncan's shot, and dances back down the floor like a hero. Guess what, Kenyon? You fouled out with 12 measly points, while the guy you were supposed to be guarding put up 39. Also, you lost the game. You suck.
