I would say it's a must win for the Mavs tonight. They need to win and get some momentum going into the game against the Nuggets on Monday. It will be tough cause they're playing the Warriors. They will also have to deal with Monta Ellis who is probably the NBA's best "guy that scores the most points on a bad team" right now. Mavs need to stop being pussies and start winning some games.

sup Jacob :)

I agree its a must win. Mavs can only afford 1-2 more losses IMO if they want the 2 seed and it sure as hell wouldnt help burning one on the fucking Warriors.

i was also fairly mad that they lost to blazers the other night and wish such a trend snaps as soon as possible, but I just don't see a game versus warriors be one worth so much hope. another loss expected...

Mavs just need to rest their asses right now so as to reserve their precious energy for the last a dozen of games in regular season and the playoffs that come closely along. It doesn't make a difference to mavs whether the opposing team is from playoff range or the zone of lottery, Mavs just lose to the teams they're fated to lose and the Warriors are just one of such teams unfortunately. After a probable 4 or 5 game losing streak the Mavs will then get togged up and take on their 1st round opponents in playoffs, with the prior a couple games in regular season as warmups.

The one thing that give the mavs lots of trouble are quick guards and Warriors have tons of these type of guys....Ellis and Curry should have there way but if the mavs want to win tonight, there offense better be on

if the mavs continue to be a jump
shooting team against GSW, they will
lose, they need to pound the paint. Small ball with Najera at the 5 will fail tonight

Hope you enjoy seeing Najera and Barea, because you're going to get a ton of it tonight.

Najera will have twice as many minutes as Damp. Bet on it.

I just still don't get why Damp only gets 8 mpg. I think the he has proven, despite his contract, that the Mavs are a better team with him on the court rather than off it.

Not sure why you're laughing. The Suns have played better than every Western Conference team not named the Lakers in the 2nd half of this season.

How are the Suns less legit than the Mavs? Let's see some stats.

(You're right, though--Suns and Mavs aren't winning shit this year)

Blazer blogger from ESPN:
"Roddy Beaubois was a flat out warmup freak. So smooth, effortless with the dribble each direction, nailing shot after shot after shot from all angles and all situations. Focused throughout. Next year, why even think twice about the novelty act of JJ Barea when, with a full summer of refining his game behind him, Beaubois has so much breakout potential? On talent and upside, I wouldn't trade Beaubois for Darren Collison. Could Beaubois do what Collison has done this season for New Orleans in Chris Paul's absence? Possibly. Would Collison get any run if he played for the Mavs, stuck behind veterans Kidd, Terry and Barea as they make a championship push? Probably not. I suppose that's why you always hear about the importance of "opportunity" in the NBA."

lol poor naive Roddy. He was pumped up to play. Rookie mistake.

I agree with the blogger about Beaubois having way more upside than Collison.

Hell I wouldn't even trade Beaubois for CP3 given that his career will fade from here on out thanks to that injury.

lol 121-63.

I don't care who we played, Roddy was making some unbelievable shots. He would pretty much just catch and shoot, and drill it right between the eyes. He bukkaked all over Ellis on both ends of the floor.

this French kid Beaubois sure can shoot and finish around the rim

I'll say this about the Mavericks, they have some of the best scouts I've seen over the last 10 years when it comes to pure rookie potential (Devin Harris, Josh Howard, Marquis Daniels, Rodrigue Beaubois, JJ Barea, Josh Powell, Mbenga) especially when you consider how late in the draft they almost always seem to be...

too bad they don't have the system to implement these players, that's another story I guess lol

Not taking away much from Detroit BUT you gotta admit that 03-04 season was a joke considering the "competition" compared to years after or before especially considering injuries throughout the league and the 03 draft class rookie hype that overtook the NBA.
In the East you knew it was gonna be either Indiana or Detroit coming out on top. In the West only the Timberwolves, Spurs and Lakers were going to make it out of the western conference.
Detroit against an aged, overhyped Lakers squad where Kobe shoots purple and gold right out of the Finals = :lobt:

Beaubois' 40-Point Effort In Golden State Loaded With Rookie 'Firsts'

A couple of weeks ago, we alerted you to Roddy B and his unique 50/40/80-percent opportunity. (Right now, with season shooting averages of 52.7 percent from the floor, 43.8 percent from the arc and 80.4 percent from the line, the Mavs’ electric guard is is on pace to be the only rookie in NBA history in The 50/40/80 Club.
But what you just witnessed in Dallas’ 111-90 win at Golden State on Saturday (Roddy scored 40 points, with eight rebounds, three assists and three blocks) was similarly special.
In fact, according to DallasBasketball.com’s calculations, the likes of it have pretty much never been seen before.
ITEM: This is only the 42nd game since 1986-87 where a player has made at least nine 3’s in a game, and Roddy is the youngest to have ever done it.
ITEM: This is only the 12th game since 1986-87 where a player has scored at least 40 points in 30 minutes or less, and Roddy is the youngest to have ever done it.
ITEM: This is only the sixth game since 1986-87 where a player has made at least nine 3’ on 11 or less attempts, and Roddy is the youngest to have ever done it.
ITEM: This is only the second game since 1986-87 where a player has had three blocks and nine 3’s, and Roddy is the youngest to have ever done it.
ITEM: This is only game ever since 1986-87 in which a player has had at least 40 points, three blocks, eight rebounds, and nine 3’s.
There are other stats on this kid on this night, and they will be totaled up over the course of the next day for mainstream consumption.
But we're up late giving you these numbers NOW and giving you these numbers exclusively ... because well beyond what you see in the boxscore, this is a very special thing that just happened. ...
Listen, we’ve been making the argument since training camp and we’ve yelped about it every time Roddy B registers yet another DNP. (Pretty much half-a-season's worth.) We don’t really think we need to make the argument any more.
The numbers speak for themselves.
The numbers speak in a way that they’ve spoken for very, very few rookies ever before.
