Dear Finley,

Since you whined like a bitch and got yourself out of town it has become apparent that your presence was the difference between a damn good team with excellent chemistry and the abortion of the team that played the first several months of the season. Now you go to Boston and reduce that team to the kind of trash that gets smoked by 20+ at home. If not for your incessant bitching we would still be garbage. Thank you Mr. Finley, you are our MVP.

Yeah, like he was getting much playing time before he was released.

Why in the fuck couldn't Finley have signed with LA?

We need to help Doc(and us) out...wive Doc, waive.

By the way, try not to make too much of this. Finley just Mav'd the Celtics the way he did us. Does not help us against LA. Even I won't put that on Fin(except for the fact he didn't sign with them).

Tonight, Finley played 13 "meaningful," according to his agent, minutes and scored ZERO points on his new title contending team.

But seriously, it's apparent tonight that CIA Pop sent Finley off as an undercover agent to cause trouble in the Eastern Conference. All the terrible public relations fall out, that was to make the break-up look real. Finley is a real hero!

If we could get Bonner to play with nuts against LA like he does against Boston...we might be able to beat them.

He needs to eat some chowder before LA...or take his family to the games or something. Whatever the hell it is that he does against Boston he needs to do against LA.

"I still want to beat them, believe me," Finley said with a smile. "I don't want to go out and roll over dead for them. It's still my job to go out there and do my best to give my team the best chance to win the ball game. Although we're friends, I want to destroy them. I still want to beat them. That's not going to change. The fact that we're friends, it's something we can laugh and cheer about before or after the game, but that 48 minutes, it's all about business."

Thankfully he's got a delusion that leads him to think he can destroy us better on another team. Whew.

Hey Mike, want to destroy us? Go to LA....lead them to our destruction.

Thanks, in advance :tu

See, Finley's comments just feed the conspiracy even more. He, Pop, and everyone on this board knows his best chance of destroying us was getting minutes on the Spurs...him leaving just makes us better, silly!

sorry Finley, but like many professional athletes, you just don't know when to quit, when your value to a team was less than 0

and it's only to bad that your inflated self worth couldn't have hurt the lakers somehow :lol:lol

Pop on Finley asking to be released:

"I was surprised when he asked because I didn't think that would be something that Michael Finley would ask to do. But I think one has to be realistic and put oneself in those shoes and if you are toward the end of your career and somebody is not going to play you and you still want to play more basketball, what's wrong with asking to play elsewhere and trying to play as long as you possibly can if that's what you want to do. That's what he did and I don't blame him for that a lick. There's no malice or anything- he's one of the greatest guys I've ever coached. But he wanted to keep playing, he didn't want to sit there on the bench for the rest of the season. There's nothing wrong with that, he wanted to play."

Finley has developed a history of playing poorly against a team he just left. Trading him to a contender was the best way for him to leave the team.

It was sweet seeing Finley get beat like that. I never would've thought he would diss the team like that. Oh well. Scoreboard!!!!

Did anyone hear Hubie Brown saying something about there was some bad blood between the Spurs and Finley after he left and that only Roger Mason Jr being the only one going out to eat with Finley??? LOL. I found that funny because RMJ was the other idiot wanting to leave to "get more playing time."

Went back to see the 4th quarter, Finley let 3 big rebounds get away from him. Thank god he wanted to leave.

The Spurs got so many second shots in the 4th, it was almost laughable. Perfect way to drain clock if you're getting two or three shot clocks per possession.

There was a video on youtube last year that RMJ put up of his house in San Antonio. In one part of the video he showed off his kitchen and thanked Finley for letting him use his chef. I think they became close friends quickly and that's why RMJ showed some love to Finley.

I have no complaint about a guy wanting to actually play and has the confidence in himself to believe he can contribute more than commentary to others guys but actually wants to play the game and be in the battle. He has stated the Spurs had told him he would be in a reduced role moving forward and had lost confidence in him being able to contribute, if he "whined" then shame but asking to be release to be able to play somewhere else is nothing I'm going to complain about.

Wow the hatred in here for Finley is insane. How does asking to be released so that he can get minutes make everyone despise him? He's still one of my favorite Spurs...hes the reason I preferred the 2006 Spurs over the champion 2005 Spurs.

You preferred what? Are you mav fan?

Some of you act like Finley just respectfully went to Pop and asked for the chance to go elsewhere. Did you forget he was bitching to Parker behind people's backs before that? There's a reason the team didn't want to meet with him for dinner. There's a reason the chemistry on this team looks 100% better now after he's gone.

Its not the fact that he wanted more playing time elsewhere. Its the part where he said he wanted to play for "a contender."

He didn't say anything about Parker, he was going to Parker and complaining about others on the team behind their backs. timvp was talking about it in a thread back after fin was released.

Finley's gone because he asked out of his contract. He's not gone because of any other reason. Other players are the ones saying Finley has been complaining about a lack of minutes. In fact, Pop has gone out of his way to make sure it is publicly noted that he wishes Finley were still on the team.

No I liked the 2006 Spurs team better than 2005. Two major reasons...Parker became a legitimate allstar and Finley was great on that team.

And don't give me crap about him bitching to Parker. Parker is his friend. Finley is frustrated at work. Of course he's gonna vent to his friend. EVERYBODY at any job does it.

This isn't any job. You don't openly go complaining about minutes to the people you're competing for minutes with. That fucks up team chemistry. Complain to your wife, friends away from ball, parents, but not within the team. That's a bitch move.
