View Full Version : Who should rest tomorrow?..

HarlemHeat37

-Should Timmy sit out for obvious reasons?..

-Should Manu get a night off tomorrow?..

-Should they both play and just hope the Spurs blow the Nets out and give them an early rest?..

I'd say rest.

Start Hill Bogans Jefferson Bonner Dice.

Manu unfortunately can't rest or else our offense becomes stale. timmy should rest since he is hurting and ian should have a 30/15 game

Nobody should sit. We need a damn win and no letdown.

Take care of business and the main guys can play limited minutes.

That, but I would give them more extended breaks than usual.

I still see Tim playing especially only playing under 30 minutes tonight, but I expect more PT for Ian and Blair.

Manu should rest as a precaution of his back. The Nets SG/SFs are horrendous, and I honestly don't see a need for him to play tmrw.

sit duncan..

play manu, he already took half a season off, he should be fine... unless that back is hurting him.

let ian play against NJ...

Play your regulars. The nets should not be taken for granted. You let down your guard, and you take a loss. If the Spurs get off to big lead and, then you have the luxury of tinkering with the lineup. The first guy guy out should be duncan.

Stringer_Bell
03-28-2010, 09:46 PM
It's all hubris that says to sit ANYONE on the Spurs, but the truth is we can't allow a team like the Nets to hang around or else they'll bother us all game and cause more problems in terms of rest for Timmy/Manu. Jump on them early, jump on them hard...then let the Hairston/Ian/Blair/Hill coalition take care of the rest. :)

Sit Ginobili and Tim.

With such a brutal stretch that barely allows for even 2 days off between games, we may as well take advantage against the Nets. Hell, I'd send Manu and Tim on a flight to SA right now while the rest of the team goes to NJ.

DesignatedT

duncan needs to sit this game.. especially with the schedule the way it is... there are not any more chances to get him rest and if we come out motivated we can blow them out without timmy.

It's too tight of a race to rest either right now. The best we can hope for is that we stomp on the Nets throat early and they throw the towel in.

Duncan I'd strongly consider sitting, but I imagine they'll handle him similar to the Warriors game. Have him in the lineup and starting just in case, but playing limited minutes.

Ginobili has to play or this could easily be a loss, something the Spurs can't afford right now, particularly against the worst team in the league. Still, his minutes need to be managed.

Hill and Jefferson need to carry the load, guys like Blair, Bonner and Mason need to step up as well.

Sit Duncan, play Manu for 1st half ( enough to blow them out ) and rest Manu

There's someone that needs to rest and that is Bogan. Bring on Malik Hairston !!

Play TD and Manu in the first half, and hope we could bury them early. Sit them in the 2nd half. But the nets have a complete line up right now, it would be a game that's tougher than expected.

03-28-2010, 10:43 PM
I'd go with the usual starting lineup and if the Spurs start blowing the Nets out then put the starters on the bench. The Nets stuck with the Spurs for most of the game in the first one, they can't take them for granted based on their record.

No one rests! Fuck that! The Nets are one win away from not tying the '73 76ers for worst regular season record in NBA history. I don't want the Spurs to be the team they do it against.

Timothy Theodore Duncan should most definitely sit out tomorrow. The guy is hurt and just needs a rest in general. I hate to admit it even though we're winning, it sucks watching Tim out on the floor looking like some average nobody and I enjoy the game less. Let's give the guy a rest so he can come back and play his game like we know he can.

Timmy looked a lot better tonight than he has in a couple of weeks. He looked a hell of a lot better than Garnett. He shouldn't sit out of any more games this year. Limit his minutes sure, but don't let him rust.

I don't know it could be good to sit Duncan. He's out and we need him.Imo his health is not going to improve a lot if he doesn't play tomorrow.Instead he could recover his confidence with a good game.

No Manu,No Tim,No Tony........Are we enough good to win without the big3?? I'm not sure.If I were Pop then Manu and Tim would play.

We cannot rest anyone, maybe Duncan, because he is a non factor as of late so not really much to loose there but a lot to win if he recovers.
If we can limit Manu´s minutes would be a plus. But start the best you can.

Xevious
03-29-2010, 01:35 AM
Nobody. The Spurs blew way too many winnable games early in the season to take any off now. Take no opponent for granted. Look at the standings. A win solidifies their hold on the 6th seed by half a game. A loss drops them to 8. Start your regulars and Tim (and hopefully Manu) can play limited minutes once the game is under control.

That said, it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Tim in a suit.

Duncan hardly played last night so I'd play him so decent minutes in the second half if its semi close.

You can't play ginobili without duncan or vice versa. They rely on each other, they are as of current the only two players on the team with near flawless positioning on pick and rolls.

Blair rolls too early but gets rewarded most of the time anyway because ginobili is just an excellent passer, but nonetheless he's a lot less reliable.

McDyess is just god awful and can't do anything.

You need duncan and ginobili on the floor at the same time to do most damage.

Right now every win is critical so I wouldn't sit anyone to start the game. If the Spurs give the same effort against the Nets that they did against the Celtics then Manu, TD and others could sit the entire 2nd half and let the youngsters go at it. The only reason to sit Manu may be that he has twesked his lower back and needs some rest. Portland is breathing down our necks and the last thing we want is the 8th seed. The standings are really tight now with the spread of 4 losses separating the 8th seed from the 2nd:

----------------W - L-------------- Last 10
Dallas (http://www.nba.com/mavericks/index.html) ----------48 - 25--------------- 6-4
Denver (http://www.nba.com/nuggets/index.html) ---------48 - 26--------------- 5-5
Utah (http://www.nba.com/jazz/index.html) -----------48 - 26----------------6-4
Phoenix (http://www.nba.com/suns/index.html) --------47 - 26----------------8-2
San Antonio (http://www.nba.com/spurs/index.html) ----44 - 28----------------7-3
Oklahoma City (http://www.nba.com/thunder/index.html) --44 - 28----------------6-4
Portland (http://www.nba.com/blazers/index.html) --------45 - 29----------------8-2

With the Nuggets lost the difference between them and the Spurs is 2 games in the lost column and Dallas is 3. If the Spurs can continue to play at this level there is a distinct possibility of getting a much higher seed. I'm not thinking 2 or 3 but 4 or 5 could happen. And looking at the last ten games for each of those teams the Suns and Trailblazers are playing better than all the others. If not for the last 2 minutes of the Hawks game the Spurs could also be at 8-2 for their last ten games, too. Nuggets and Mavs haven't looked so mightly as of late and if K. Martin doens't return to the Nuggets soon they might end up in the lower half of the bracket come PO time.

I would like to sit both TD and Manu along with Dice but unfortunately the situation is such that the Spurs can't afford to do that now.

George Hill can probably beat the Nets on his own.

Sitting Manu+Duncan and letting Hill improve his career high sounds like the go-to move for me. Then again, I don't want to ruin this team's groove by changing starting lineups. Its not like Tim and Manu would play more than 20 minutes if they did play...

Nets have been less horrible lately.

Unless someone is injurer or tired, I wouldn't rest a player against them.
I would open a little more the bench and hope the 4th quarter end up as garbage time.

Too much at stake now to risk blowing a game and the momentum of the 2 big wins.

Guys are just going to have to play, esp Duncan, who looks like he needs a confidence game. Only guy that might be afforded some rest if the spurs get up a bunch is Manu, since he's been carrying the team on his back for the past 3 weeks.

Sit too many, or even ONE starter; and the Nets feel disrespected; however many games they've lost - they are an NBA team, with NBA talent; don't give them ANYTHING, no matter how meaningless it may seem, to play for. Start everyone; beat them down; THEN rest.

Nobody should rest. Nobody played really extended minutes last night, and the 4th was half garbage time.

I don't like Manu's ballooning minutes, but I also don't like the team falling to shit when he's not on the floor. :lol

One loss is worth as much as another right now, so the Spurs can't afford to take a night off. Losing to the Nets would just negate the hard work from the Cleveland and Boston games.

I agree with you with the exception of Timmy. He looks tired and this is a good chance to let him rest. Blair and Ian are hungry for minutes, and Bonner and Dice are pros who are still getting some kinks out. (Bonner from his injury Dice from his really slow adaption to our system.) All 4 of them could use minutes, so put Tim in a suit for this game.
