They managed to beat the Cavs without Dirk. Though the Mavs won't be in the finals so it's a moo point.

This thread is quite entertaining. And I agree that Mavs won't be in the finals. I predict either Portland or Utah will knock them out.

in all seriousness, the mavs make a big splash this year but i highly doubt if we make it all the way to the finals. we'd have to be pretty much on top of our game to even challenge LA to a good series, and whether or not we beat denver is still up for debate. Although after the ass whipping we just gave them, I THINK that we beat them in a 7 game series.

Marion has to keep playing the way he has, Dirk has to be on fire, Kidd has to play like he was in that stretch after the all-star break, Butler needs to step it up and Terry needs to not suck. And Carlisle cant be a retard.
small chance imo to get to the Finals.

But it would be awesome/hilarious to beat LA.

Mavs come up short this year, Iguodala puts them over the top next year.

Considering Dirk/Terry/Kidd/Marion will all be worse next year, we would probably have to make another splash this off season.

its wide open this year. Especially in the West.

just looking at the west, all these teams are pretty much even:
Lakers
Mavs
Nuggets
Jazz

Lakers have HCA so I see them going to the finals.

So, the West has begun it's decline, but I wonder who will shake up the balance next year

The Rockets get my vote to be the balance breaker TBH. they've so many underpaid players on team whose contracts will last till 2011 and their cruddy stocks are all set to expire by the coming summer, which allows them plentiful room for a couple elegant signings from the free agent pool.

I'm a Mavs fan -- this should not have made me laugh :lol

AHH, lets hope that's not the case again. I'm glad it wasn't a Mavs fan who started this thread.

No one beats Cleveland in the finals.

Imagine how much more profit the league makes with James after a 35/9/9 finals performance. Headlines, comercials etc until late into the next season.

They can sell that way better than a boring white boy or Denver douchebags or boring Tim Duncan, even better than Kobe/Lakers.

And im serious, i expect that Lebron can go absolutly crazy in the finals with travels, defense without fouls etc.

It would blow to somehow pull out an upset against LA, only to watch Lebron go all Wade on us for four games.

LMAO I'd enjoy that even more than '06 :rollin

if the Spurs can't win it, at least let the Mavs be humiliated and remembered forever as chokers(again) :toast

I agree completely. It's gonna be the James-series. As you wrote, who's interested in a white boy, some Denver douchbags and a boring Tim Duncan? Nobody. Whichever team Cleveland will face in the finals, LeBron will bulldoze his way to the cup getting any call he wants. Including to be allowed to do the crab dribble again and again without any call for a travel. On the defensive end I don't expect him to get more than 2 fouls a game. Probably even less.
