View Full Version : Tony Parker to be back next week.

Just this morning, Tony Parker uploaded a video onto his Facebook page. It was an autograph session and you could clearly hear a fan ask him, "When are you coming back?" He politely and confidently responds, "Next week."

It should be interesting how Popovich eases Parker into the lineup.

His shooting touch should be somewhat back by the playoffs if he indeed is back next week.

Nevertheless, the Spurs are not going anywhere without Parker this year. He is going to be extremely important and I am excited to hear from him that he indeed will be back before the playoffs start!

Let's go get another :lobt2:

I dont think TP should settle for J's when he comes back...

Yep will be very interesting how Popped brings Parker back.

My hope is that Pop breaks him into the 2nd unit, and after he gets back to speed keeps him there thus making him the spurs' new 6th man, while starting lineup remains unchanged.

If I was a betting man though, what we'll probably see is 1 or 2 games of coming off the bench then Parker back into the starting lineup.

Even though the team will kick major ass in those two games and chemistry will flow like a mountain spring, the whole "Parker as a 6th man" idea probably won't even register in Popped's brain.

Hope that is accurate. It would help TP get back into game-shape and shooting rhythm before the playoffs.

I was surprised to see TP's fg% with his jump shot is not very good, low 40's; i though it was closer to mid. He should not be shooting jump shots too often when there are guys with higher fg% for jump shots (basically all other rotation players).

We need to get him in playoff shape, and quickly.

his tweaked ankle and PF should be completely healed.. he should be as quick as ever in the open court and getting to the rim.

He is going to need some time to get in game shape and probably won't have a lot of minutes as Pop isn't going to risk re-injury and lose him completely for the playoffs. I still see Hill getting more minutes until TP has some time to mesh with everyone. I think the biggest issue this year has been a lack of chemistry and right now it seems like it is as good as it has been all year long and he probably doesn't want to mess with that too much. But then again, it is Pop.:lol

I've been saying for weeks that ge would be back for the last 3 games of the season. He's been running and started shooting a while ago.

He had a broken hand. Why would he Have not been running all along?

assuming he hasnt... he did have a mild ankle sprain this year and plantar fascitis that had been bothering him all season... Im sure he let those rests as well.

He should be good to go. Injury free.

"Settle" being the keyword. I think he should ease into driving the paint so hard at first. The worst thing would be for him to reinjure that hand with defenders swatting down at the ball. Also, his jumpshot will be a good indicator of how his hand has healed since there is fuller range of motion in a jumpshot than in a layup.
If his feet, ankles and legs feel good and he has decent lift in his shot, he is actually a pretty good jumpshooter. Especially in those pick n' pop plays.

The ankle was fine when he broke his hand and the PF won't go away in a matter of a few weeks. I'm sure he didn't just stop jogging/ running at all because that would basically reduce his shape so much he'd take a month to get it back. He's been running, probably in the pool too, all along. He should be in shape, just not game shape yet but that shouldn't take long if he's in shape.

So basically, he's got one week to get in game shape before flying to LA for the first 2 games.

I know I should be excited about this, but I'm not. Just seems a little too good to be true.

Parker's known for being a quick healer, but if he comes back too early and takes a shot to that hand or whatever, he'll be right back in a dress coat.

Well we don't have time to wait, he and RJ need to learn to play well together since Parker has to be the starter.

They couldn't do it for 50 games but I'm sure with just a little bit more effort and whatnot they'll get it right in the last 3 games.

C'mon we just need to believe it and will happen people!

There is a difference when you're not playing. They run the injured players realllly hard. But my point was that he stayed in shape.

You just said the same thing I said. You made it sound like Parker running is some sort of big indication he's almost ready to play. My point was he had a hand injury so running would not be an indicator of shit. Make sense?

not sure why but I read Tony Blair, I said .. WTF is former British Prime Minister doing here :frying:

I think after Manu/Hills/Blair resurge ... could make some good mix with our bench.

Coming next week means he will start to practice with ball, no contact yet, ok?

At this point I hope not since every time that I've watched them play together the chemistry just isn't there. Blair needs Manu more than TP. Likewise with RJ.

Spurs will not be playing LA in the first round.

The way Portland, OKC, Phx and Utah arre playing it looks like the Spurs will get the 8th seed. The Spurs schedule is much harder than those teams coming down the stretch. But anything can happen though.

almost certainly will be.

if not then dallas, which for us would be even worse.

Right now the LAL, Mavs and Nuggets aren't playing all that great. In fact all those teams could get bounced in the 1st round if they aren't careful. If the Spurs can just keep improving, get TP back, give TD some rest and Manu heals then they aren't in that bad of a situation.

Of course that's a lot of "ifs" to happen!

Full 4 weeks since the injury would be on the 6th or 7th of April

Best Case Scenario.

So he's got 5-6 games to gain rhythm

I doubt his PF is fully healed, especially if he's made any attempt at staying in game shape. That'll heal this summer if he doesn't play basketball.

I had it a couple years ago and it was extremely difficult to get rid of.

WTF? Tony doesn't even SEE Blair on the court. That's a horrible pairing. If Tony does come off the bench, move Dice there, too, and put Blair back with Manu in the starting lineup. Tony can find Dice on the wing.

Tony Blair would be an awesome pickup. Dude is great at handling the ball.

:wakeupi agree with you again, dont you think that the problem with jefferson was kinda resolved though?, it was the not playing with manu, i think if manu is in with rj it will work out alot better than bogans and dick, like you said frenchie would be furious coming off the bench so if pop does start tp right away we better pray pop keeps manu as a starter. hill has grown enough to dominate as a bench PG along with blair should bring our bench points back to where they were

that should be cutting it a lil short but pop will figure out where tp needs to be, if hes going to be playing like shit we need him on the bench! BUT if he comes in like the vintage t.parker** thats even more of a problem cause now do you : A.) play parker plenty minutes and keep RJ and Manu together since parker doesnt pass the ball to dick jefferson?
or
B.) put stupid bogans and jefferson out there with parker??? =disaster i think
C.) put hill, parker, jefferson out there starting and leave ginobili on the bench with blair????

D.) bench T.P keep the same lineup thats been working and use tony as a pure attacking force off the bench??? have blair clean up the missed shots or when tony rolls blair rolls for the put backs???

its going to be interesting to say the least...
