Okay, all you "smart" people. Looking at some patio chairs the other day
I had this thought. How in the world do you repair the things when the
"plastic" webs finally give out. They are not like the old woven webs, these
new ones have only the single piece going across from side to side and
the way they are fastened is not visable. I "suspect" the go into a slot and
then wrapped around the supporting bar and then taken to the other side
(sounds like a horror movie) and stretched and somehow or other done the
same as the original side. If that makes sense. But the stretching is what
has me baffaled. I know good and welll there must be a way, cause someone
did it in the first place I am just can't for the life me figure out how. Anyone
out there an expert on this? :shootme

you probably have to buy a new one!

they aren't repairable...at least with the same stuff...

I think the material is similar to the shrink wrap I sometimes use on wiring...the webbing is put in place and glued back on itself at the tube joints with a glue similar to PVC glue that chemically bonds the joint...then heat is applied to the web (probably with steam) that makes it shrink and get "tight"...

Don't buy those crappy chairs. The "sports" type that fold like an upside down umbrella are much better and more comfortable. They are like $10 at Walmart.

I had a set of 4 that came as a set with a table...they lasted almost 10 years outside on my patio...One finally fell through completely and a couple of others had single webs break but I still pull the last three out when I have a lot of people over...I just make sure that people I really like don't sit in them...:lol
