Hahaha
Just went to the play-by-play and saw that a missed FT by Finley made the game -that and a huge 3 from Brooks- go to OT, were Boston got the L. Hahaha
I'm so happy we got rid of Michael hahaha.

The Spurs were 32-24 after Finley's last game with the team.
The Spurs are 14-5 since then.
The Celtics were 40-21 before Finley's first game with them.
The Celtics are 7-7 since then.

Finley is gonna hit the game winner in double overtime of game 7 in the eastern conference finals against Cleveland, so don't start cheering yet....

The Finley's hate is quite disproportionate.
First, even when you are a good FT shooter like Finley, hitting your 2 FTs isn't automatic. Statically, a FT shooter like Finley will at least miss one of his 2 FT 1 time each 3 trips.
Second, Finley isn't the main reason why Spurs have improved and Celtics have sucked lately. Finley wasn't playing with SA and has been quite good with Celtics (54.6% form the field and 40.9% from 3 point land).
Third, Finley hasn't left Spurs because he wanted to go with a contender. He left SA because he was in the doghouse and wanted more playing time.

I agree. I didn't like Finley game over the last 2 years, but I respect what he did for the Spurs in his 4 and half seasons.

Of course I put some but when things are done I recognize he was important in some playoff runs, helping a lot in 07 title run.
It'll be different when your boy Mason Jr is gone. I won't miss him because he never did anything to help the Spurs win playoffs games

It's only a matter of time before Roger breaks out of his slump, the signs are all there to indicate he is due. All his misses last night were dead on just caught a bad roll off the rim. He is starting to get consistent minutes for the first time this season so once he starts feeling comfortable in his minutes/role look out!!
Don't be surprised when he is resigned for 2yr/4m next year.

Boston was playing well, not great, but well before they got Finley and the Spurs were struggling mightily. Well we get rid of Finley, and our play gets so much better, aside from a few games......Boston signs Finley, and their play goes into the shitter.
Thank you Finley for taking you negative karma to Beantown. Couldn't happen to a better class of jackasses.......Garnett, Ray Ray, Perkins, and Rajon.

Disagree. Is there any doubt his coach/boyfriend/husband would have continued to play Finley, stealing minutes from better players? Sure his minutes were cut at the end. After PopnFins spat and impending divorce. Check the Nov stats.
Third, Finley hasn't left Spurs because he wanted to go with a contender. He left SA because he was in the doghouse and wanted more playing time.
No, Finley wanted both. More playingtime and on a contender. His sense of entitlement is off the hook. As if extorting 129 million and helping derail a would-be Spurs mini dynasty (2006) wasn't enough. :rolleyes

Pretty sure his "me first" attitude when times got tough mid-season earned him a ticket out of town this summer. It seems the Spurs are already looking to preempt re-signing Roger by agreeing to non-guaranteed deals with younger players at the same positions (PG/SG).
I also wouldn't count out the Spurs for bringing in a wing player in the draft or even entertaining the idea of bringing over De Colo.
All that considered, I'm pretty sure Roger won't be a Spur next year.

There's no way Mason will be a Spur next year. He's a designated shooter who is woefully inconsistent. I blame Pop for stripping him of any confidence he ever hoped to have, but still, you have ot make shots.
MAson is similar to Steve Kerr, but way less consistent. the reason Kerr stuck around so long was because he consistently made shots. KErr was unathletic, an at best an adequate backup point who couldn't guard his grandmother. But the dude could make shots, and could be counted on to do so.
Mason can't be counted on to make shots, so he's totally expendable. However, he may play really well for another team and another coach - it just won't be for Popovich.

Just karma for that loss he gave us against Boston at the AT&T center when he missed his free-throws at the end of the game... (IIRC March 20th, 2009)

It all depends on how Mason performs in the stretch run. Shooters like Roger need consistent minutes in order to be consistent. Up to the past few weeks his minutes have been all over place.
And really he doesn't even need to be consistent in his shooting every single game IMO because he does other things to help the team (ballhandling/playmaking/hustle plays). His defense is underrated by most on this board.
If he can give the team a handful of games like the thunder game where he got hot and poured in 13 quick points in the 2nd quarter to singlehandedly keep the spurs in that game he's more than earned his minutes. Thus is the nature of a streaky shooter, if they get hot at the right time they can carry you through really tough games.

I don't even think it matters how he performs down the stretch run, because I'm honestly not sure he'll have much opportunity. Right now he's getting burn because Parker is out, but he hasn't done much to justify Pop giving him minutes when Parker returns and the rotation tightens up for the playoffs.

I don't think the rotation is going to tighten much heading into the playoffs, other than we won't see any Hairston, Ian or Jarred anymore. A 9-10 man rotation is best esp when your starting lineup is composed of 3 aging veterans that need frequent blows.
And if Parker ends up doing alot of minutes in the 2nd unit he'll need 3 point shooters like Roger to space the floor for his drive and kick-outs.
Mason is the better overall player than Bogans and I think we're beginning to see some trust developing between him and Pop. Last 5 games Bogans' minutes have been going down while Rogers' have been increasing.
i still can't believe the Cs missed that. We had to send them to line more than once.
That was one sick fucking step back three by AB:wow

I'll add that the spurs' bench has been pretty good this year (tops in the league) and it would be a shame if Pop decided to tighten the rotation and not utilize it.

For as clutch as Finley is in making clutch field goals, he's as un-clutch when it comes to making clutch free throws.
The Finley's hate is quite disproportionate.

The results sure as hell looked like we were a worse team with Finley. The Spurs were 9-8 before Finley's injury, and then went 15-5 over the next 20 games with him out of the lineup. That was when Parker started to complain about plantar fasciatis, and we hit a mini-slump for a few games. After Finley came back from his injury, we went 5-6, and we have gone 14-5 since he left. I know that he wasn't the sole cause of the problems the team has had, but it's hard to say that he had nothing to do with them.
Let's just say that Finley going to the Celtics made both teams better. It's just unfortunate for the Celtics that his impressive shooting percentages didn't translate into W's for the team. (Does that sound more "fair" to Finley?)
BTW - since Finley has been with the Celtics, he's shot .333 from the FT line. Maybe it's not fair to judge, since he's only taken 6 FT's in a Celtics uniform. But that's because he can't get to the line for shit anymore. So when he does manage to get fouled, he probably needs to make more than a third of the shots.
And speaking of shooting percentages. Fin's are a lot better when he's had 2 or more days of rest - especially his 3P percentage. That sounds a lot like tired legs. Its' a shame they don't have a stat for how often someone blows past him on the way to the basket. He would be a full-time job for the stat keeper, on the second night of back to backs. I wonder how he ever got into that doghouse?

Finley will end up being "a man without a country", with no true fans anywhere....it's sad really...a delusional ego can really backfire on you. I don't blame any Spurs fans for thinking he left us when we might have needed him the most.
