Raptors’ Bosh injured, taken to hospital (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-raptors-boshinjured)
By Tom Withers

Toronto All-Star forward Chris Bosh is undergoing tests at a hospital after being accidentally elbowed in the face during Tuesday night’s game.

Bosh dropped to the floor after he was struck by Cleveland’s Antawn Jamison in the first quarter. As play continued, a dazed Bosh got to his knees as blood dripped from his mouth and nose area. When there was finally a whistle, medical personnel from both teams went onto the floor to attend to Bosh, who was in obvious pain.

He was assisted from the court and taken to Cleveland’s locker room with 9:52 left and examined by Cavs team physician Dr. Richard Parker.

At halftime, a Raptors spokesman said Bosh was at the Cleveland Clinic undergoing a CAT scan and getting further treatment. The team said the right side of Bosh’s face received the most trauma.

Bosh is averaging 24.3 points and 11 rebounds for the Raptors, who entered the game holding the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Toronto has a tough week ahead. After the Cavaliers, they host Boston on Wednesday and are at Atlanta on Friday.

On Sunday, they’ll host the Chicago Bulls, who trail them by one game in the standings.

Best clip so far. I wish they had shown the rest where you see that his hand is full of blood and then the towel they give him is soaked. He also looked like he was having trouble breathing- which makes sense given the injury.

He would be most epic baller on the court if he comes from his injury with a facemask. Predator style. :downspin:

Raptors’ Bosh has surgery to repair fracture (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-raptors-boshinjured)
By Tom Withers

Toronto All-Star forward Chris Bosh had surgery to repair a facial fracture suffered during a freakish on-court accident.

The Raptors said Bosh had a displaced nasal fracture repaired during an operation performed by Dr. Frank Papay at the Cleveland Clinic on Wednesday. Bosh will remain in the hospital overnight, and it’s unknown when he will return to Canada or whether he will play again this season.

The team is expected to provide a further update on Bosh’s condition before its home game against the Boston Celtics.

The Raptors have a one-game lead over Chicago for the final spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs with five games left.

Toronto’s leading scorer sustained a “maxilla and nasal fracture to the right side of his face” when he was accidentally struck by the elbow of Cavaliers forward Antawn Jamsion in the opening minutes of Tuesday night’s 113-101 loss to Cleveland.

Bosh was coming across the foul lane when he was inadvertently hit by Jamison’s flailing left arm. Bosh immediately dropped to the floor and grabbed his head in anguish as blood streamed from his face. He was taken to the Cleveland Clinic, where a CT scan revealed the fractures.

After hosting the Celtics, the Raptors will play at Atlanta on Friday before hosting the Bulls on Sunday. They’ll play at Detroit on Monday before ending the regular season with a home game against the New York Knicks.

Bosh, who is eligible for free agency after this season, is averaging 24.3 points and 11 rebounds per game.
