I've got Final Fantasy Tactics on my PSP now, and what can I say? This game is absolutely phenomenal. I almost forgot how good it is. I'd put it 3rd on my all-time FF list... maybe even ahead of 7.
They also re-translated the game for the PSP version, so it's easier to understand now. And added cut-scenes! Amazing.
If you haven't played this game, you owe it to yourself to check it out.

That game certainly does rock. I had that in my PS1 for about half the time I owned it. :)

Kind of a sucker for strategy RPG's of late. Got the latest Sega collection for Shining Force (and the Streets of Rage series tbh), replayed Vandal Hearts just last week, and was thinking of tackling FFT again if for no other reason than to marvel at the evolution of the genre.

I have so much shit to catch up on..... but does that stop me from picking up MORE stuff? Nope. :(
Heavy rain on PS3, unfinished
Left for Dead 1, nope
New SMB on Wii, untouched after the first 10 levels
Patapon 1, collecting dust....
Fallout 3, GTA DLC, fucking Burnout Paradise, and countless others....
Damn, all I need is one summer...... I miss being a kid

Fuck yeah, Tactics. The PSP version is amazing for roadtrips, especially if you've got another person with it in the car. Personally, Tactics is second on my list behind 6 and just ahead of 9.

I thought it was AWESOME on PS1, but I tried to replay it a month ago and the text and flow were way slow and I just didn't find myself having the patience. The PSP version has to be faster, but I'm not buying a PSP any time soon so I'm stuck waiting until I grow up and can handle the slow start again.

I loved the first final fantasy tactics. If I had a psp I'd surely buy it.
Wish Square would give it a true sequel seems like all they can do for the fft name are weird handheld sequels. Could you imagine a sequel to FFT on the ps3 with the fancy graphics square loves so much these days and just translating the original battle system from the ps1 version? Would be awesome.

Its a lot more fun the first time you play it and have no idea what you're doing. The second you learn any battle mechanics the game is laughably easy and quite lacking in actual tactics. High brave, low faith and blade grasp makes you essentially immortal. Calcs can end most fights in one turn and dual wielded knight swords kill nearly anything in one attack.
I played the game to death when it first came out. Its a lot more boring these days, the hand-held versions (FFTA/FFTA2) flow much faster while not being nearly as easy to obliterate everything in one turn. A lot of nostalgia though.

couple of my friends got rehooked on Final Fantasy 1 for the iPhone. Only thing that got them off Plants vs. Zombies.

I think it really depends. The game is extremely challenging if you don't grind a lot between scenarios, the same with any RPG.
