NEW YORK -- In the last eight days, Tina Charles earned an All-America selection, was voted the Associated Press' women's player of the year and helped the Connecticut Huskies complete a second straight undefeated season for their seventh national championship.

On Thursday, Charles is the favorite to be selected No. 1 overall by the Connecticut Sun in the WNBA draft. The Minnesota Lynx will have second and third picks.

"Tina is WNBA-ready," Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve said in a conference call. "Her game is so suited for our level, whether its her ability to score in post-up situations or her offensive rebounding."

The Lynx reached a bit to draft Griffin, no? Never envisioned a scenario where Appel would fall off the top-3. The Silver Stars were lucky to get her.

Anyway, Minnesota wins the next championship.

I think shes only a Freshman. Leaving college early (especially when your there free on scholarship) for a 45k paying job isn't the best decision.. especially when an injury can end your career early. She should stay 4 years and get a degree, then if she still wants to play at least shell have that to fall back on.

I am loving the first two picks...the 3rd one leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. We pick Rack instead of Raven. Raven is bigger, shoots a higher percentage, and is a better rebounder. Appel, Clark, and Raven would have been a great draft.

This year we give Becky and Sophia some much needed scoring assistance. Appel seems to be a quality post player and Clark can flat out score. Also, Crossley should finally be completely healthy and able to give us the 3pt threat she was before her injury.

I am definitely looking forward to this season.

I liked the pick.

Me too. Even though she sucked hardcore in the Championship game but she was playing injured.
