They seriously did everything they could to lose. And when Fisher and Gasol were walking off the court they were laughing. Could they of wanted to lose this because of our struggles in the Rose Garden. Even Brian Shaw was laughing. I have never seen that in my life

They should have been playing for homecourt against Orlando still.

Lamar 43 min, Kobe 40 min, Gasol 40 min... Yeah, I'm gonna have to say no on this one.

maybe they're playing the odds and think Orlando stands no chance against LeBron this year.

Who thinks the Lakers would have won this one without Kobe?

You have to do things like that, so people will have something to argue. Perfect planning by Phil and the Lakers. Actions speak louder than minutes.

I think it's pretty clear that LA wants nothing to do with Portland..they match up with them physically..

Kobe is at the point where he can be contained by good defenders, and Portland has 2 guys that give him trouble right now in Batum and Webster..

Camby really rescued the Blazer's season. I thought they're going to be first round fodder but he's giving them a new dimension.

he short armed the second one on purpose to make it bounce towards him and the boxed out lakers but then fisher fucked up.

Yeah..Kobe played 40 minutes in the 80th game of the season but they wanted to throw it..how fucking stupid. If they wanted to throw this game, he wouldn't have played.

Lakers I'm sure would rather Popovich gift them another series win instead of McMillan-Portland.

That having been said, Kome would not have made the three pointer if they were chucking the game. Everything else in the end did look pretty fishy tho.
Kome fouling Webster for 3 FTs would support a throw. But perhaps he is just so used to getting pampered by the refs he figured there would be no call.

I don't think they're coasting at all..

Their spacing is horrible, that isn't going to change..their depth is horrible, that won't change..they have the worst guard rotation in the NBA outside of Kobe..Bynum is gonna need time to get back into game shape..Kobe looks old and slow, I expect him to get better in the playoffs, but he's no longer a dominant player IMO..

I still think they're going to win the West, but I'd be surprised if they beat Cleveland or Orlando..

how are they going to win the west let alone a series with all those problems you mentioned?

I don't believe anybody in the West is that good and all the other teams have serious flaws as well..

I can MAYBE see the Mavs winning, but that's it..

I'd be shocked if a team from the East doesn't win..

Kobe wouldn't have scored 6 straight points to put the Lakers up by 1 if they intentionally wanted to lose. Once Miller made that layup to go up by 5, LA would have intentionally caved after that had they wanted to lose.

They were probably smiling because they are arrogant bastards who just got embarrassed.

This isn't the only time Kobe has ever smiled after missing a game tying or game winning shot.

That pretty much sums up I don't think they tanking even though they were smiling and cracking up. Its the same type of reaction you get when you beat one of the top teams on the playground which is laugh and smile and try to play it off as no big deal. That team is filled with narcistic personalities win or lose they will have the same demeanor so I don't see why anybody should be shocked by their behavior after the game.

Exactly. Down by 5 points with less than a minute to go, what would have been the point of Kobe scoring 6 points in 20 seconds to take the lead?

Kobe didn't throw the game. He just missed free throws you'd expect him to make. And why would Fisher make that second free throw then?

They didn't throw the game. But at the same time, the game didn't mean much to them in the big picture because they already secured the #1 seed so they weren't all that upset with the loss. They were trying to win the game. They just came up short. And they better start playing better because they are very beatable right now.

Sons, I was at the game today..The last 15-20 seconds was some funny shit. I aint even mad they lost cuz I would rather they play SA..The atmosphere in the Rose Garden is just ridiculous & I think LA would have an easier time winning a game in SA if they needed too. Portland has 2 pretty good bigs in Aldridge & Camby while SA has an aging Duncan & Mcdyess. Manu would have to go ape shit for SA to take 4 out of 7 vs LA.

You should be mad they lost because it was to an 8th seed without its best player, at home.

This aint the eastern conference..8th seed in the West is still a 50 win team with good players...8th seed in the east aint even .500..Big deal, Roy wasnt even doin much when he was in there anyways.

Lakers down by 1.
Kobe misses two free throws.
Fisher makes 1.
Tie game.
Kobe fouls a running 3 point shot.
Kobe barely moves in the last shot, Fisher was open in the corner and Gasol takes a 3 point shot.

Interesting.

The way I see it, the Lakers don't care anymore about the regular season. No one will catch them at the Western confrence standings, and the Magic and Cavs will have better records than them. They're just coasting until April 17th and Bynum is back.

someone gets it

I believe they will lose to the Mavs, Denver and even Utah. Though what you said is true, the Lakers has a bigger flaw among them all. Kobe Bryant.

Kome is shooting a staggering 30% from the field for the last 2 weeks . The Lakers thought by giving him a week off his condition will improve but he's having an even worst efficiency than his 2004-2005 season. No lift and no lateral quickness on those 35,000 minute legs too, reminds me of Michael Jordan in Washington. And their bench has been non existent. So that's two major issues going into postseason. Lakers do have a slight chance to make the series competitive. Use Kobe as the decoy and allow Bynum, Gasol and Odom frontcourt to dominate the offense. Kobe should avoid shooting 20 times and pick his spots wisely. Run the offense and establish a solid post offense to create spacing.

If Kobe decides to be a hero and force himself to average 30 in a series then Dallas, Denver and Utah will put on a clinic for the Lakers. Its going to be so embarrasing that I expect Phil Jackson will officially retire this offseason.
