What a strange weekend it has been for Santonio Holmes (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3635).

Yesterday, we reported that Holmes is facing a four-game suspension under the substance abuse policy. Tonight, we're told that the Steelers have traded Holmes to the New York Jets.

It's the second time in less than a year that the Jets have swung a deal for a former first-round receiver. Last October, they acquired Braylon Edwards (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3126) from the Browns.

Like Holmes, Edwards also is facing a possible suspension, after pleading no contest to an assault that occurred only days before he was traded. Also, both players are signed through 2010.

Suddenly, HBO's Hard Knocks got a lot more interesting.

UPDATE: Peter King of SI.com and NBC confirms that it's a done deal. Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post reports that the Jets gave up a fifth-round draft pick for Holmes, who was the MVP of Super Bowl XLIII. A fifth-round draft pick for a former Super Bowl MVP.

APNewsBreak: Source: Jets acquire WR Holmes

NEW YORK (AP)—A person familiar with the deal says the New York Jets have acquired wide receiver Santonio Holmes from the Pittsburgh Steelers for a fifth-round draft pick this month.
The person spoke with The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the teams had yet to announce the trade Sunday night.

Holmes, the 2009 Super Bowl MVP, is facing a lawsuit in Florida from a woman who claims he threw a glass at her, cutting her above the eye, in an Orlando nightclub. The police also have been investigating the woman’s claims. Holmes denies hurting the woman.

with what? two shitty ex-chargers and an overrated as hell receiver?

People have been stroking off the Jets all offseason. Big Fat Fuck has obviously fallen in love with himself, along with Mark Sanchez (who, as many people are quick to forget, blew ass all season until a couple halfway decent playoff games). Let's see how they do in their sophomore outing before sucking their dicks off.

This is highway robbery. Just because Holmes would have been out for 4 games, they decide to trade him for 10 cents on the dollar??

Hope Wallace steps up and fills the void, but sending a top-15 productive WR out to an AFC contender for a 5th rounder can't be justified in any manner.

I agree on sanchez not really doing much but yet getting the pub as if he lit up nfl defenses in his rookie season..Nothing worse than watching a jets game and announcers praising sanchez for completing 9 out of 20 passes and leading the jets to a victory.:bang

Damn the Jets are getting stacked now....adding Braylon Edwards last year, and now adding LT and Holmes to that Offense, not to mention adding Cromartie on D.

That's not what you call getting stacked. More like having a gaping hole on one side of your secondary.

What would you want the Steelers or the NFL to do if there are no charges pressed?

The steelers organization doent put up with that shit, in the 90's they had a player who was thought to become one of the best running backs in the leauge and he got in trouble with drugs and they cut him, didnt even trade him they cut him (forgot his name).

That would be Bam Morris. lol patriots fan knows more about the steelers than a steelers fan.

In other words they added a nonstop drop machine, an old vagina of a RB with a bitchy attitude, an okay receiver who gets overrated because of one game, and one of the worst CB's in football.

Yeah, they're stacked :lol

This doesn't have to do with what the NFL does. But as for the Steelers, they should try to trade Roethlisberger just the same, or just out right release him. I understand that there were no charges filed and probably won't be. But this isn't the first time something along these lines has happened with him. This is the second known incident. Plus, you have the motorcycle incident as well. If they're going to have that little patience with Holmes over a substance violation because "that's how the Steelers organization handles those kinds of things," then they should be trying to ship out Ben too. Period. But, they won't.

Come on JamStone you know better. You don't release your 90 millions franchise QB . You just don't treat your franchise QB the same way you treat your 2nd WR.
One has proof evidence against him, the other doesn't. However, Ben can't get in another incident now

Know better? Obviously, that's why I said they won't ship him out. I know they won't. That's what I said.

That fact doesn't make them any less hypocritical, especially under the guise that they don't put up with the type of shit that Holmes did but they'll put up with what Roethlisberger has done. And apparently, Ben gets four strikes, not just three.

Jets have some major talent on the offensive end and are stout on defense end.

They are pretty young too with Sanchez at QB, Greene at RB, Edwards, Holmes, Cotchery at WR.

I hardly consider "stacked" picking up a guy (Edwards) who led the league in drop passes in 2008, and LT who has been on the decline since his breakout year in 2006. I think Santonio Holmes and Antonio Cromartie are good pick ups, but Santonio is also serving a 4 game suspension which could be a difference in the AFC east.
