Roy will need surgery but very probably will try to play the playoffs unless it's some massive tear, the knee doesn't react well at all or he's a major pussy. Already explained this in another thread.

Portland's Brandon Roy could miss the playoffs with a slight meniscus tear in his right knee.

Roy's playoff status uncertain

Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy has a torn meniscus in his right knee and his status for the playoffs is uncertain.

Roy will miss Monday night's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder and Wednesday's regular season finale against Golden State.

He will require surgery and will be out from four to six weeks. But he said he may try to play with the injury in the playoffs because doctors told him it cannot get worse.

Roy is the Blazers' leading scorer with 21.8 points per game. He injured his knee on Sunday when the Blazers played at the Lakers.

The Blazers have clinched a spot in the playoffs, but their opponent for the first round has yet to be determined.

Sucks all these injuries didn't happen at the beginning of the season so they could get a good lottery pick. Now they will get swept in the playoffs with nothing to show for it.

My understanding is that the Zombies get locked into the 8 seed with a loss tonight at Portland. But if they win, what does that do to Portland?

Well, they did play each other in the playoffs last year, and I'm sure that magic injury dust rubbed off on Portland

Pushes them to the 8 seed if the Spurs beat the Mavs.

Hmm...Guess I have to root for Portland tonight. Mavs should play to beat San Antonio and gain the 2nd seed regardless of who they face. I just hope it's Portland.

DPG21920

Mavs should do whatever it takes to play Portland. What is the difference between the second and third seed? Not much. There is a good chance that the 3rd seed will have HCA in the second round.

It puts Portland in the 8th spot as they'd be one game behind the Spurs. If the Spurs lose to the Mavs, and Portland beats GS tomorrow then the Portland gets 7, OKC 6, and SA 8th if Portland loses tonight.

BanditHiro

well it looks like they will be the 8th seed but it doesn't matter since they can beat the lakers without him as demonstrated on Sunday.

Utah plays 11 points better at home than on the road against winning teams, the teams they're going to face in the playoffs. Utah is going to be a bitch to beat in a seven-game series if they have HCA, but I think they're just about hopeless without it. Mavs are not beating Utah in the second round w/o HCA.

So you think Utah is going to be the 3rd seed?

I think Denver loses tomorrow night at Phoenix, while Utah most likely wins out. Which means Dallas has to win out to stay ahead of Utah.

Findog

Mavs clinch at least the third seed with a win over the Clip Show tonight. Wonder how it will all shake out. Phoenix, Utah and Denver can't all win out.

Didn't he get injured in his rookie year too? If that's true he has had the same amount of injries that Manu had but just in 4 years.

He didnt play the first 20 games of his rookie year if my memory serves me. He also has had 2 or 3 knee surgeries (one in high school) and it was a discussion at draft time.

I brought Manu up 'cause everybody call him "injury prone", so if having only two serious injuries in 7 years in the NBA (15 as a pro, playing a lot international tournaments also) is beign "injury prone" then Roy must be pretty close to beign one too.
