if the Spurs can't sign Splitter, it would be an intriguing option to trow the whole MLE at Mike Miller. they always liked him and reportedly they tried to trade for him at the 2009 deadline. he would solve several questions, as he can replace Mason (and Finley) and give the Spurs the 3pt shooter they will need, if Bonner also leaves.
I was always a big fan of him and always thought he would be a great fit with the Spurs.

(btw. there was a rumor that he might go back to Orlando and sign there for the MLE. he will very likely take the MLE, if he can join a good team/contender team)

I'm a big fan of Mike Miller as well..I love his game and his size..

He's risky though, he's always playing through little injuries..

The Orlando rumor makes sense though..their organization still loves him, and Orlando's announcers were speaking very highly of him throughout the broadcast when they played them recently..

Agree. :tu

I'm a fan and think he'd give the Spurs a lot of what Barry did (in a different package) and fit in with the Spurs quite well once he got acclimated; which could take some time a la Barry.

The injuries are definitely a concern, though, as he always seems to be getting banged up and he's been cut on a couple times IIRC.

But I do like him; I'm just not all that enthusiastic about giving him the MLE because it'd mean Splitter's not coming . . .

Really wanted him back in the day. Still does some really nice things, but is 30 already. Good rebounder for his position, great shooter, has never been able to play on a very good team.

He is the type of role player that could really elevate the Spurs. But they don't have a shot at him because of Splitter. Splitter > Miller at this point for the Spurs.

Splitter > Miller at this point for the Spurs.

this for sure.

Yeah, if there was no Jefferson, Miller would be very intriguing. Splitter first.

one month ago most thought Miller is intriguing.
I assume that after the 3point disaster in this POs this is still valid.
no idea how. the only way would be a S&T that involves RJ and the Wizards would want a lot more in return to agree. (at least Blair, likely also a pick)
nevertheless MM would help to solve a lot of the Spurs current problems.

This from the guy that wants Bonner back? Classic. :lol

I like Mike. But he's banged up a lot recently, IIRC. I think he could really be a good spot up shooter for us. The injury bug is what worries me.

Doesn't fit into our plans financially with Splitter being recruited for most of the MLE.

If that wasn't the case I'd be for it.

any idea what his asking price is?

I would assume somewhere around 4-6 mil/year. More than we have if we sign Splitter.

I was afraid of that. Oh well, next thread!

I like what he could bring to the team as a veteran role player, but Mike Miller was broken most of last season.

I love Mike Miller as a Spur - unselfish, good passer, solid rebounder, great shooter, tries on D. However, as has been abundantly stated, where's the money coming from? Splitter is a far higher priority.

If we could get him cheap, or do something ridiculous like sign and trade him for Bonner/Mason, I'd jump at it.

the only chance to get him would be offering the whole MLE. (which he is worth). but then no Splitter. S&T with Bonner and Mason looks very very unlikely. I guess Wizards won't burn cap space to get any of this two. (they would likely get Mason back for a vet. minimum anyhow IMO)

btw. there were some reports that Miller will go back to Orlando for the MLE. which makes sense.

So if Miller is going back to the Magic, which I also read, that means either Barnes or Pietrus should be available, something we should look at.

As a strictly regular season guy? Sure.

Matt Barnes or Pietrus?

Eh, just, too much retread on those tires for my taste.

Pietrus is too expensive at 5.3mil, but if Miller goes there one or the other is gone.

You wouldn't take Barnes for the minimum? He should have been our guy last year instead of Bogans.

I don't know that we rate as the serious contenders in the eyes of others anymore, but it would definitely be sweet if he chose to come here on a small contract, and it would make RJ that much more tradeable for another piece or pieces.

Dreaming is free, I guess.

:lol He hasn't even played in the playoffs since '06! He's only better than Bonner at shooting, ball-handling, rebounding, passing...well, basically every skill a basketball player can have.

Mike Miller is turning into hot property, league executives say. He can expect offers starting north of mid-level exception in 1st year.

That means miller is drawing interest from teams with cap room.

Yes he is!!!

Shucks, I would like to see him in a Spurs uniform.

They won't have enough money to get him.
