Not such a bad idea, maybe blogs might work better since they are the new form of diary. After all, we know alot about people from the past not only from government records, but also from personal diaries.

really? they want to use tweets as a scholarly source?

i can see me in about 3 years having to write a research paper with a primary source. "One person, trapped in their home during the bombing, tweeted, 'Help!'"
