poor man's george hill

would be great for a full season 3rd string PG

I don't think it's a stretch to proclaim Temple as one of the better individual defenders on the team.

He is an NBA defender, I think better than Bogans easily.

I would say he's hte best perimeter defender on the team

Bogans is actually making Butler look like a weakling

His defense has been alright IMO, his offense has been more impressive IMO..he's been getting beat pretty often and he isn't good at recovering/fighting through screens so far..most of the offensive players he's faced have scored on him a lot, although he does show flashes with his length..

I think Bogans, Hairston, Hill and Manu are better perimeter defenders on this team so far..

I like his offense better than Bogans and Hairston though..he has more confidence than them and is obviously a much better ballhandler..

Mason isn't mentioned on either side for obvious reasons..

We would've won this game had George not tweak his ankle

Spurs put up a fight. Can't complain.

Temple played his way into a roster spot for next season. I love the future of this team.

Temple is a very good surprise

If he improve his game more in the summer he can be a solid backup PG next season

Nice going Mavs. Way to strike fear into the hearts of the spurs. :lol

I want Temple to get signed to like a 1 year deal with an option

And have him just fuckin stroke Bowen and Angle threes with Chip Engelland all fucking summer. Like 5000 a day. All day.

He can be a good change of pace backup point guard for us.

I tend to try not get too excited over players that have good games over short spans, but damn this kid has that IT that alot of players dont...he doesnt play timid or scared. Aside from his ability to slash to the basket Im really liking his agressiveness on defense, he doesnt give up any easy points. He'll make a great 3rd PG during the playoffs if Tony or Hill ever get into foul trouble or if a spark is needed, and with some improvement he could make for a decent backup next season if anything developes with Tony over the off-season.

As bare as the roster cupboard is after this season, he may have played himself into the rotation. The kid has poise, and you can't teach that.

I think he has a legit shot of being the backup pg next year.

I'm thinking that Hill stays at the 2, and will get spot pg duties if both temple and parker are resting. Plus we have Manu.

Sacramento and Houston both cut this kid.

Go figure.

He had a few good moments against Barea and that transition block was impressive. I like that he seems very confident, those type of players do well in Pop's system.

Like I've been saying, the guy knows his way in the Spurs offense. He's got instinct just like Blair.

He's got 2 problems that he can work on this summer. He needs to beef up and second, his 3point shot needs work.

Hairston is definitely more athletic, but this Temple handles the ball with so much more confidence.

Uh, even with this dreadful 1-6 night beyond the arc, he's still shooting 43.4% from long. He does better spotting up and catch'n'shooting. He doesn't do as well creating his own 3 pointer, which is what he was doing tonight. He's pretty much money from the corner.

Hows this guard stable for next year: Manu, Parker, Hill and Temple.

I like it!

Temple fits the mold of a hard working Spurs player, to me his biggest drawback is when playing against teams that know how to lure him into contact. That's something that he'll get with experience, but he doesn't have to worry much about it now since he'll be 3rd string PG.

LOVING how the young guys like Hill/Temple/Ian/Blair didn't give a shit who they were playing, they played hard and without fear. I don't see any reason not to keep these guys on our roster...thank goodness RMJ won't be stealing anyone's minutes next season.

Mel; Westphal said they wanted to retain him though he chose to come to the Spurs instead. So that'd make ONLY the rockets as the ones that cut him.

All he really needs to do is work on his three point shooting. If he became a legit three point shooter, he'd be a nice threat off the bench behind Tony.

Thanks, didn't know that.

Gee also chose the Spurs over the Wizards, even though that meant going back to Austin instead of starting in the NBA.

Speaks well of the Spurs organization.

Mensah-Bonsu, James Gist, Anthony Tolliver, Ian Mahinmi, Malik Hairston, etc. - every young Spurs player that shows some ability will either be overated or underated by Spurs fans, but the unjustified cynicism of would be talent scouts is definitely increasing as our big 3 gets older. I recall last year many posters here discounting Hill's ability and potential and he was a 1st round pick. If you can get past your fat nose in the air regarding young players, you'll see that Temple seems to have something that none of the "Mensah-Bonsu" prospects have had - confidence and balance.

Better prospect than Marcus Williams, Jack McClinton and even Nando de Colo.

Love the confidence, swagger, and versatility. He's everything Spurs had hoped from the Lute Olson's Sean Elliott comparison ( Marcus Williams).

Has quick feet, long arms, and above average lateral movement. Has the physical assets to become a damn good defender. Mentally he has some strides to hurdle over defensively.( More film room and repetition on the court could be the medication.)

Offensively needs more moves from the triple threat position, rather than going left just about every time off a jab step or a pump fake from a kick-out off penetration. Shooting needs to become more consistent but looks promising. Needs to develop mid-range game

Better prospect than Marcus Williams, Jack McClinton and even Nando de Colo.

A summer with Chip could do wonders and could ultimately even make Tony Parker expendable ( Yes I went there.....maybe).

Already think he's done enough to steal minutes from Mason and to an extent Bogans.
( Which doesn't say much)

In all I think he has the potential to be a stud off the bench. Like the kid :toast

I like the Marcus Williams comparison, he reminds me of a more athletic and confident version of him, as you said..part of the reason the Spurs are probably high on him..

As poorly as Mason is struggling with his 3-pt shot, combined with his shoddy defense and poor ball-handling, it would make sense for Temple to get minutes ahead of Mason. However, I just know that wont happen.

Correct. Hairston, Gee, Jerrells and Temple all have small contracts that extend through next year. Gee, Jerrells and Temple are all unguaranteed but Hairston might be guaranteed (unlikely). Still, it's a nice stable of young talent to look at over the summer. If they work out they're cheap, if they don't then they're easily expendable.

according to shamsports hariston has a unguaranteed $854,389 make good contract for next year. Jerrells, Gee, Temple have $762,195 make good contracts. I believe if they make the team next year they become guaranteed. Spots opening up from the loss of Mason, Bonner, Finley and Bogans next year I think 2-3 have a good chance to make the roster.
