They are making a rule that will ACTUALLY TAKE POINTS OFF TOUCHDOWNS AWAY from the team that scores if a player taunts before reaching the endzone.

Examples include high stepping into the endzone or pointing the ball towards an opponent.

Taking points away? Wow. Just...wow.

oh man this is going to ruin alot of games...players will run the ball in for the final score and have points taken away to lose the game by one point or so.

refs should have NO part in deciding a final score. EVER.

agreed. why is it wrong to celebrate if you just scored the game winning touchdown

Sounds terrible, especially after all the questionable "excessive celebration" calls over the last few years, some of which have affected the final outcome of games.

Pretty much agree with The Reckoning here. Dumb move

Golden Tate is glad he left early.

IMO, highstepping is not taunting because it happens when a player is all by himself so what's the big deal. Spiking in someone's face or pointing them out or shit like that is taunting and has no place. Also, that excessive celebration rule has got to go or be amended. You should celebrate with your teammates when you score.

I officially nominate this thread as the first topic in NCAA forum history where everyone seems to agree with each other.

I can understand penalties for EXCESSIVE taunting, but not taking points away.
They have officially gone too far.

Wow this is just too unreal! I can understand acts like spking in the opponents face or pointing to them as you cross the goal line but taking points off the board? Sounding a litttle too PC for me. Or maybe this could be thought of as a strong arm tactic to curb an ever increasing situation. Maybe in a generation or two some might even suggest that the score shouldn't be kept. Because the losers might experience some kind of pyschological trauma and a lowering of self esteem. :D
