Hey guys, as you can see im new here. Although ive been reading the boards for over 3 years, ive only just decided to sign up now.

Ive stolen this idea from a Hornets board, but thought it would be an interesting discussion for Spurs fans.
Say you have the ability to add 6 inches of height to the roster. You can distribute it however you like, giving all 6 to one player or adding 1 inch to six players.

Do you add all 6 inches to Blair, making him the new franchise center piece?
Do you give Hill a couple inches making him the Small Forward we have been missing?
Or do you spread out the height amongst the roster?

There are heaps of possibilities, and i thought this would be a fun topic.

it depends where you add the six inches... i'm sure GHill could use some height, but i doubt he needs any six inches down south.

:lol

I say we give the 6" to Manu so we can have a seven-footer at shooting guard that can post up, split defenders, make great passes, block tons of shots, and take the ball to the hole. He'd be unstoppable! Truly SUPERMANU.

I would give 4 inches to Blair and 2 to 'The Naked One'. It will add to their enormous wingspans too. Blair will be able to rebound much better and his shots won't get blocked or rushed as much around the basket not to mention it will make up for alot of his shortcomings in the post defensively. Hill would be much better defending the two. I am not sold on him defending the SF yet. Also, they are young and the inches would last longer.

I'd give all 6 to Pop.

Since our future is George and DeJaun, Id give 3 to Blair, making him a true 6'10" PF, he could be a nightly 20-15, and i would give 3 to George, giving us a 6'6" 1-2-3 combo swing.

Tim, Tony and Manu would obviously benefit from a couple of inches, but they wont be around for nearly as long. I think guys like Ian and Splitter would probably suffer from the extra height, anything above 7'0" becomes a hindrance in terms of speed and athleticism.

I'd do the same. Tim, Tony and Manu have all proven that they are great players as is. Add a few inches on Blair and that kid is a serious center-piece in my mind. Give Hill a few inches of height and he could be our next Kobe-Slower-Downer. Not to mention be an even more versatile player than he already is.

Does it not affect their athleticism at all?

I think you give 2-3 to Timmy, he doesn't need all 6 to be completely dominant, he already positions himself so well and can gain separation that giving him all 6 would be a waste. I'd give him 2, Blair 2, and Hill 2.

Timmy is already close to 7 ft, so he needs no more, IMO. I agree with the common sentiment that Dejuan Blair and George Hill would reap the biggest benefit from the added inches. I would, however, go into fractions; giving Blair 4 and 1/2 inches, and Hill 1 and 1/2 inches.

I give Blair 3" and Hill 3"

That makes Blair about 6'10 and Hill about 6'5

Give them all to Ian.. then just maybe Spurs might keep him.

But since we're in fantasy mode, why not give everyone 12" .. Spurs would be a dynasty for sure ,LOL

um obviously give all six to blair and make him an unstoppable 7 footer. i also like to think about swapping bodies, like whether to swap mahinmi's body with blair's or duncan's or swap tony's body with ginobili making ginobili the proper point guard height and parker the shooting guard height.

I've gotta go with the consensus here and say about 4 inches to Blair, and 2 to Hill. Everyone else has already proven their capability on their team at their height. Parker's already plays fine even though he is short, Manu wouldn't benefit from more height, and Duncan is already tall enough to begin with. And McDyess is old.

Bogans, Hairston, Mahinmi, Mason, and Bonner aren't important enough to warrant extra height.

So I've gotta go with Blair and Hill here. Both would be scary if you could add height to 'em.

I'd add inches to RJ's groin that way he'd grow a dick and stop playing with the vagina in between his legs.

I would give 2 to Blair for obvious reason

2 to Tony. He could be at another level if he could dunk on the penetration like D-Wade

And the last 2 to Hill

I'd give 3" to each of Blair's non-ACLs so that he had both.

Most people have pretty much hit the nail on the head with this one; the two players on the team that can benefit most from the height are Blair and Hill. However, one has to wonder if one (or both) of them knows that they have to work that much harder since they're a little undersized for their positions. Little things like that can work on a psyche of a player, and, whether it's cause/effect or just a coincidence, Hill is perhaps the hardest worker on the team, and Blair plays perhaps the hardest on the court on the team.

I'd give 3" to each of Blair's non-ACLs so that he had both.

I say if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Blair is the only player for the Spurs to play all 82 games this year, and if he doesn't have ACLs then he can't tear them.

I hear what you're saying, and the ACLs wouldn't necessarily help him this year, but when he's forced to retire at like 26 because his unstable knees have holed right through the meniscus on BOTH sides, I'm going to wish he had ACLs.

I'd give 3 to Mason and 3 to RJ down "there" to raise their confidence a little for the playoffs.

Sounds painful... :lol

I hear you, though. Really, I don't think anyone, in the medical profession or otherwise, knows what's going to happen to Blair. You could very well be right that it will limit him to a 3-6 year career. On the other hand, similar injuries didn't seem to effect the longevity of Hines Ward or Sean Elliott. It will be an interesting medical outcome, one way or the other.
