You Spurs fans panic way too much and way too fast. Its barely the first game. I know there are bad memories from years past about how Dallas took us out of the playoffs. I have those same memories too, but it wasn't that bad.
I wasn't expecting a sweep nor Spurs in five. I still think the Spurs can and will pull this out. Yes Dirk still presents a huge problem for the Spurs, but folks around here need to calm down. I'm disappointed in the loss, but I'm not worried.
The Spurs were horrible on the glass, turned the ball over way too many times, and only went to the line 14 times. Yet they led in the 3rd and were never really out of it. The Mavs are good when they're out running and the turnovers the Spurs committed only helped them.
Expect the Spurs to come out a lot better in Game 2. Expect adjustments to be made. Its not going to be an easy task. I have too much respect for the Mavs to come out and say its gonna be easy for the Spurs to take this series. Its going to be a long and hard (that's what she said) series.

You guys are forgetting the spurs are missing an integral piece to the 1st unit, a healthy George Hill. If Hill doesn't play at all this is a major blow and I'm not going to pin my hopes extremely high.

Exactly.
If one chooses to look at this series realistically, Hill's absence means the Spurs are outmatched with essentially only their Big Three going up against the Mavs. Nothing dramatic about that.

Spurs MUST take Game 2, if not, we have to be realistic people. Even bringing it back here at home down 0-2 won't feel good. Manu can only do so much. With teams past, our entire roster had the heart to will us to victory, but i can only say that about half of this years team. But still, I'll cheer on, even if down 0-3 and trailing in the 4th.

I'm not saying I am not disappointed with the loss or that I don't have any respect for the Mavs. I have a lot of respect for that team. They're good. I'm not with those people who were claiming this series was gonna be easy and saying, "Bring on the Mavs." I wanted to play Denver, Utah, or Phoenix in the first round because I knew Dallas would be a tough matchup.
Just can't believe how some fans are.

I'd rather have a fresh leg team play the Mavs first off and finish off against the Thuggets or Jazz later on. But all in all, Mavs or Lakers wouldve just revealed our different weaknesses. Whether our team nuts up is the question.
one game with a bad trend. no, not the turnovers. that can be corrected. not the boxing out. that too can be improved upon. but the real concern is that the spurs stop at the big 3 plus mcdyess, hill and blair. but hill is hurt and blair gets limited minutes against the mavs. so where is the help going to come from? mason? bonner? no way. jefferson? highly unlikely. hate to say it but either the big 3 goes bananas or hill and RJ need to step up. if they cannot then it is over.
OMG shut up.
Spurs fans are so blind at times.

i'm usually a pessimistic, surly, worried fan but i actually feel decent even though we lost. the FT discrepancy was a huge part of the game. we just gotta get someone (a 4th) involved.

It's called reality. Open your fucking eyes.
I love the Spurs, but we are crap. We will not get out of the first round. I'll bet my left nut.

This. I'm staying positive, but if we lose game 2 I'd say it's pretty much over. Could be wrong but their length plus confidence would be tough to overcome.

Speaking of realistic expectations, since when is a 12ppg guy THAT important? You guys have former all star Tony Longoria playing the same position for god's sake ,it's not like you play a 12man rotation in the playoffs.

When the Spurs woke up at the end of the season, Hill was much more than some 12ppg scrub. Much more... If you were a fan and watched Spurs games you'd know. Props for your win, damn the Spurs for their lack of length, may it be priority #1 in the offseason now let's focus on game #2.

You guys keep talking about their depth and confidence. What depth and what confidence are you talking about??they beat us in 2006 in a very tough series.last year manu was out and no1 expect us to win. They never blew us out or demolished us or anything like that when we were at full strength.Duncan was very confident in his interview. He knew they gave the game away. You guys dont understand basketball. Now your talking about depth.they aren;t deeper than us.you guys are idiots.
they had 9 players play with stevenson playing a few seconds so they are playing an 8 man rotation.
C: Dampier
Pf:Nowitzki
SF:Marion
SG:Butler
PG:Kidd
Bench: Barea
Terry
Haywood
Spurs
C:Dyss
PF:Duncan
SF:RJ
SG:Manu
PG:Parker
Bench
Hill
Bonner
Blair
If we play an 8 man rotation we are the same depth.Hill is equal to terry these days.Blair and Bonner aren't as bad as you people make them seem.haywood is a good Center but bonner and Blair are ok.If bonner is hitting his floater and 3s he is unstoppable.that will happen in at least 2 of the games in this series. Barea is crap.he cant do shit and wont do shit this whole series. If hill comes back health for game 3 we will be fine.
What about the starters?Kidd and parker are about the same.Manu is better than butler.Butler wont average 20 this eries. He will go down to about 15.Manu is unstoppable.they have no answer for our penetration.expect it to keep happenong the whole series and our guys will start hitting their 3s.
Marion and RJ are about the same.RJ wont play that bad again. He is the X factor. If he scores about 12 then we will win this series.thats all we need for him and to keep butler under control.
Tim is tim.he will guard dirk and dirk will never shoot that well again. No more fouling a jump shooter either.
Dyss played really well and made his shots and had a dunk.He is a threat on offense.Damp is useless on Offense and couldnt stop tim either.
So on offense we are better and our defense is better too.We scored at will in the paint. We just didnt hit our 3s.
After saying all this. How can you say the Mavs are better?
Even if we go down 2-0 this series is far from over.its only over when we lose at home.In 2006 we were down 3-1 and tied it and should've won if it wasnt for the foul or Dirk. That series I remember what duncan said when they were down 3-1.they asked him if he thought the series was over.he said a series is over when a team gets 4 victories.till that happens its not over.Timmy and Manu will not let us lose this series.Manu has the biggest heart on the court.he will rip RJ to pieces in the practice and expect to see a new RJ next game.
Have confidence in your team and stop being a bunch of queens.
Go Spurs

I think it's evident to the entire world now.
Pop played players that hurt his team.
Carlisle, not so much.

I'm as optimistic as the next guy, but this "it's only one game, it's only <whatever month it is>" is a dumb argument. After 83 games, a person has a good feel for a team and their limitations. It's going to be a struggle to win this series. Very difficult, but not impossible.

I'm all for the Spurs, but it is the big 3 against the Mavs right now. The difference between now and late season was Hill wasn't hurt. He's the third/fourth best player. Blair got spot minutes and pop was forced/chose to play Mason and Bogans. The big three got no help from their role players and if this is winnable, then their shots must go in. Home court should change that but we have to win the next game and hope Hill comes back and is able to contribute. Some people say Duncan needs to man up. NO, he's trying his best but at times it's a one man show. It's him versus Dampier and Haywood. Spurs have no other post threat.
