I don't know if it's the Denver Nuggets style of basketball rubbing off on him, but he really takes some idiotic shots during crunch time. He has a penchant for launching ill-advised 3 pointers extremely early in the shot clock.

I distinctly remember him doing the same shit during last year's playoffs and costing his team dearly.

Some players have been given a false reputation of being clutch by the media, based on perception..Billups is one of them..I won't name the others, one of them is obvious..

No surprises there. Just Brickups chucking the shots he's supposed to chuck.

Nuggets never want to experience the ending of a game. They want to fast forward, close their eyes and hope for a win. F'in weak sisters.

Melo & Jr's stupidity definitely rubbing off on Billups...25-30 seconds left & you gonna run up the court & handcheck a player to death while you have 5 fouls & only down 1..Stupid ass team.

Mr. Dumb Shot
Mr. Dumb Shit. lol But seriously his age is starting to show. He really does seem to hurt the team nowadays. He was much better last year.

Denver will never win a championship because they simply don't have a high collective basketball IQ. It doesn't matter how talented you are, if you can't execute during clutch moments you aren't winning a ring.

Last season they blew their chances against LA with two idiotic inbounds passes that were stolen.

Not really. Billups earlier in his career basically admitted that he didn't know when to shoot and when to pass.

It isn't.

He was given the moniker "Mr. Big Shot" because he was the only player on the early-decade Pistons teams who could create his own shot, and therefore took a disproportionate number of shots at the end of games. Sometimes he hits them, sometimes he doesn't, but his shot selection has always been very questionable (less so over the past 5 years, that referees will give him fouls for his flops, but he's still prone to chucking up a three before getting his feet set with 18 seconds left on the clock).

Yeah he took some bad shots, but what separates him and Kobe and other "clutch" players from others is that they aren't afraid to take shots late in games.

The entire team was taking some bad shots and playing sloppy. Denver sucked today except for that period of time in the 3rd quarter where they scored 14 in a row. It got contagious

Denver's winning this series. Deron Williams is better than Chauncey but if Denver gets past this round, Denver has the better PG in most match ups.

Watch Chauncey do well next game and everybody will be all over him.

+1 people praise his ability to get to the CF but never criticize how badly he generally plays in the CF.

It was interesting watching like clockwork every time Williams scored or dished at the Jazz's end Billups would come back and instantly chuck something up, either off-balance or 3 feet behind the three-point line.

They need to win game 3 if that is going to happen. If they go down 2-1, they will be on the verge of imploding. The longer a series goes, the worse it is for the Nuggets. Even if enver wins this series, they won't go any further. Kmart is limited, Nuggets have no frontcourt depth, lack D, lack execution in close games.

Chauncey took those heat-check pull-ups in Detroit too.

Nothing new to Billups' game. The fact that he's had such a dramatic effect on the Nuggets just shows how far from contention they were before he got there. They're better with him than without him, just not good enough.

The biggest concern was that Billups waved off the play called by Dantley at the end of the game.

AD wanted Ty to bring the ball up the court and get the ball to Billups for a 3, but CB waived it off and then just took the ball down the court and bricked up 3's on the last 2 possessions.

The Nuggets played their worst game and the Jazz played out of their minds, and they only won by 3. The Nuggets could still win the series if Billups every shows up.

Billups has been taking those types of shots for a long, long time. He did it in Detroit. This is not new. During most of the game, Billups plays smart, but when it's the second half and when it's a close game, it's not uncommon for him to take untimely shots because he's "feeling it" or looking for a momentum swing. There were times where he'd make a good percentage of them so you didn't half mind it. He's still capable of making them, and if he made them last night, he'd be a hero who was willing to take the tough shot to save his team. Having missed them, he just looks stupid and people will claim age has caught up to him. That might be true, but him taking those bad shots isn't evidence of that. Those weren't uncommon shot attempts. That wasn't JR Smith rubbing off on him. It's not really about ego or age, although it probably has something to do with it. He just missed the shots.

Even an implication of Kobe and you come a-runnin', like Pavlov's dogs at the sound of a bell.
