Islamic Web Site Angry Over Prophet Mohamed Depiction In 200th Anniversary South Park Episode.Warns Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
Revolutionmuslim.com, a controversial Islamic web site based in New York, is making thinly veiled threats against Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the creators of the popular animated comedy series, South Park.
The issue at hand is the depiction of the Prophet Mohamed during the 200th anniversary episode of South Park.
"We have to warn Matt and Trey that what they are doing is stupid and they will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show. This is not a threat, but a warning of the reality of what will likely happen to them."
Source: news.blogs.cnn.com
Theo Van Gogh was the dutch film maker who was assassinated, his throat slit, in 2004 by an Islamic extremist for a film he made on Women in Islam.
Revolutionmuslim also provides the New York address for Comedy Central which airs South Park and it provides the addresses for the Los Angeles based production company of Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
Contacted by CNN, the author of the post, Abu Talhah al Amrikee, said that providing the addresses was not intended as a threat to the creators of South Park but to give people the opportunity to protest.

Reaction to the episode. If I was the one being talked about in this vid I'd be pretty freaked out. I really hope Parker and Stone come out and talk about these threats

A bunch of thin skinned dirtbags. I REALLY hope they go all the way with this in the next episode but I doubt Comedy Central will let them. At least keep it going good

It's not Muslims, its religious fanatics. Here in this country, you have the Christian right trying to bump T. Jefferson out of the history books because he dissed their interpretation of God. Extremists are pussies by definition.

Muslim fanatics are certainly a scary group of assholes, but to imply that all muslims fall into this nutjob clique is ignorant.
However, the constant outrage over satirical takes on Islam/Mohammed etc are getting old.
Islamists and hardcore christians share this sad propensity to lash out against those who don't portray their religion in the best possible light. A slightly more developed sense of humor would do both groups a world of good.
Props to Matt & Trey. They've been going after everyone for years now. Liberals,Conservatives, celebrities, religious nuts, corporations, none have escaped their razor edged wit. Hope they keep up the good work

Yes.
The depiction of the Prophet in any form is prohibited. It's even worse than eating pork or drinking alcohol.
My class had a debate session on this a few days ago, and i think 17 year olds are more understanding then some of you posters here.
Stop being insular.
Extremists are very different from the conventional Muslims. An example would be how the word "jihad" is being used. "jihad" vaguely means struggle in Arabic. Extremists often state that it means a struggle in war. But most conventional Muslims would use the term as a struggle for a moral and a virtuous life.
Please don't compare them with us. :toast

I'm guessing the bleeping of his name was added by Comedy Central after all the hubbub, but you can tell by the way it was used that the censoring of his image and the bleeping of the long bits of dialog at the end was original to the script.
And it was, I felt, the only clever part of either episode. Everything else just felt a bit... desperate.

FYI - the 11pm episode was pulled. South Park always shows the new episode twice - once at 9pm and again at 11pm (central). I record the 11pm one always and watch the next morning. Last night, the 11pm showing was a replay of butter's writing the book. Comedy Central only does that when the 9pm showing creates so much controversy and complaint in the hour after the first showing that they jerk the second one down. Last time I remember that was the shit-counting episode. I know they'd done it other times... maybe the last super-friends episode? So I haven't seen it yet... I guess I'll watch it online but it sounds like the southparkstudios one isn't the same one that aired at 9pm...?

I'm not so sure he was trying to be an asshole, just pointing out the severity of depicting Muhammad within the Muslim community. If anything, he's just reinforcing the idea that these extremists are a minority. A LOUD, OBNOXIOUS, BUTT HURT minority...but a minority none the less.
I think it's time the Neo-Nazis and assorted groups of white power stand up for the rest of us and pick a fight with this Anti-South Park group!

Your first sentence is an interesting introduction to the rest of your post.
How about you be more sensitive to the beliefs of people around you? People have the right to believe whatever they want to believe, no matter how fuck all crazy we may think it is. Violent acts as a result of those beliefs should, of course, be discouraged and/or punished to the extent of the law, but who the hell are we to suggest that those who adhere to the beliefs of a centuries old religion should just spontaneously get over it or lighten up.
No matter whether or not you or I or anyone else agrees with or understands the ins and outs of the Muslim religion, and regardless the validity of whatever point Parker and Stone were attempting to make, the fact of the matter is that the choice to depict Muhammad within an episode of "South Park" was willfully and knowingly offensive to a large percentage of the global population. They're within their right to offend whomever they please, and you and I are within our right to find it funny or even poignant, but the Muslim community is damn sure within their right to take offense to the depiction. To suggest otherwise is just silly.

Honestly, it's possible that it's all a big joke from the dudes of South Park. Since they revisited every character ever made fun of on the show, they could have also revisited the "Cartoon Wars" episodes from earlier seasons, where Family Guy was supposed to show the image of Muhammad but pussed out as well. I really don't think they held back in fear for their lives
