No need here for trash talking "lol Mavs" threads. The Spurs just went out against a team they were supposed to beat, did what they were supposed to do, and beat a team they were supposed to beat. Nothing personal against the Mavericks, but are they aware that they are putting two Washington Wizards in the game in crucial moments in a heated Western Conference matchup? This Mavericks team is far less dangerous than the Harris/Howard/Stackhouse version a few years back. No big surprises tonight. As the favorites to win the series, this was just a routine win for the Spurs, nothing big. Shooting pretty much the same amount of free throws as Dallas, the Spurs showed that they don't need to be +20 in free throw attempts to win a playoff game. When the Spurs just play their game, they win. Dallas is only good when they make shots. But as I've asked with other shitty/fluke teams in the past...what happens when the shots don't go in? Two Washington Wizards, Erick Dampier, and Eduardo Najero can't get the job done when Dirk isn't hitting shit shots. Spurs in 5.

SD is right. Just added three playoff losers to an already chokefest team like the mavs..... and you get a bunch of chokefest losers that cant beat an old as team at home.

Congrats on getting homecourt back Spurs. Wish I could say the same about the Suns, but it looks like a Suns/Spurs 2nd round matchup is a possibility now.

Doesn't matter, the Spurs will steamrole the Lakers who are showing Denver like mental capabilites as of late.

It seems pretty clear that whoever makes it out of the West is gonna get steam rolled by Orlando or Cleveland. So far the West looks like it's just 8 teams, none a whole lot better than the other playing games decided by which team can out-gameplan its opponent and which team can hit their shots. Coaching is more important than ever in the West this year, which makes me think SA will kill Phoenix, as I expect Popovich to royally rape Gentry as he did to D'antoni if the two teams play each other.

Orlando has no shot at winning the east if the Cavs are healthy. The best fight they'd put up would go MAYBE 6 games if things fall into place for them. Orlando is scared of Cleveland. Cavs are also too deep and too good. However, while Orlando has no chance in hell, they are the only team who can make it semi-interesting against the Cavs in a 7 game series.

If the spurs don't make it to the Finals, I'm going for the mavs. if mavs don't make it, i'm going for the fakers out of mutual respect for our decade long shared dominance.

if fakers don't make it, i'm going for the suns. if suns don't make it...i don't know, it doesn't matter but I'm going for the western conference team.

It's a conference pride thing at that moment in time. You want the west to win, to reassert the dominance we used to have.

Why does no one realize that the most reliable winning strategy in the NBA is "just shooting some shots?"
