He's not counted on to score 20 a game like vs Phoenix, so he should be having a good series.

Right?

Like I said before, the Spurs want Marion to shoot as much as possible. He probably has the worst touch around the rim that I've ever seen from a SF.

no matter how well or poorly he plays, I would be glad if he was played in Barea's place but he wasn't.

That's exactly what Carlisle regards as highly as maxim.

The problem for the Mavs is they have 2 starters that aren't great scorers at all. If you keep Kidd off the 3 point line he becomes non existent on the offense end. And Marion for some reason against the Spurs just disappears.

If I were Carlise I would demand Kidd to attack the basket everytime the Spurs run him off the 3 point line, and I wouldn't play Marion in this series at all.

Thats not the problem. LA has 2 starters who can't score for shit too. The Mavs problem, as it has ALWAYS been, is that they have consistently had one first option player (Dirk), and a whole boatload of third option players (Howard/Harris/Stackhouse/Terry, now Butler/Marion/Kidd/Terry), but never an actual second option player.

True. Mavs are a deep team but Dirk really lacks an all-NBA teammate or an all-star teammate for that matter.

Kobe/Pau
Duncan/Manu/Parker
KG/Pierce/Allen (not so great anymore)

The only player with the transcendence to get away with lacking a true 2nd option is Lebron.

Cuban may just admit the mistake and eat his salary. 4 years was a bit much.

Biggest reason I think is he cost and lot and could not create his own shot. Hench dissapearing in the playoffs especially against the Spurs who pay attention to him on D to prevent cheap scoring opportunities. I liked him on defense, but honestly, he was a garbage collector on Offense.

:lmao:lmao:lmao:lmao:lmao:lmao:lmao:lmao:lmao:lmao

The best part of that is, he was never counted on to score 20 a game on Phoenix, he was supposed to let his offense come to him, he didn't and ended up throwing tons of possessions away with stupid shots, exactly what he's doing right now.

But anyway, good thread :lmao:lmao:lmao:lmao:lmao:lmao:lmao

Agreed. Lebron is good enough to make up for not having a true second option, but at the same time he still has the deepest team in the league. Really no surprise they were the best this year.

The Mavs have more talent on their roster than anyone except maybe a couple of teams, but lack that one ex-factor of a true second all-star. Instead they have a plethora of semi-all-stars.

I've not seen a lot of this good D mav fans talked about.

It was there in the regular season against Kobe, Bron and Melo. They all shot very poorly matched up against him.

Why he pisses himself at the sight of the Spurs logo, I do not know. On paper he should be an effective option for checking Ginobili :bang

Ghazi
04-24-2010, 02:49 PM
Also defended Durant well

But all of those guys are small forwards

GInobilis a 2 guard

Kobe has the speed of a small forward these days in my humble points which is why he was able to defend him decently.

picc84
04-24-2010, 03:14 PM
Marion defended Kobe well because Kobe is a shell of himself. He shoots poorly regularly now, regardless of who defends him. Even Stevenson played good D. Its not like Marion is expected to shut him down because of history, Kobe used to routinely ABUSE Marion whenever we played the Suns to the point I thought he was scared of him.
