They'd rather play a bunch of dicks in 2nd round I presume, so the Mavs are the team they prefer IMHO, which isn't likely to come true though.

Spurs, definitely. We would get home court advantage, Mavs would probably be a tougher opponent, plus we want to beat the Spurs! I think the extra motivation and energy and will to beat the Spurs would also give us a better chance.

By the way, the series has a 67% chance of happening, as of tonight!

Y'all had it in 2005, and lookee how that turned out.

Mavs would probably be a tougher opponent,

Since Dirk and A'm'a'r'e' probably cancel each other out, you're telling me you're more afraid of an assortment of random Wizards and 5'7'' JJ fucking Barea than the Big 3 who've been there and done it (usually against y'all) before? O-kay.

So motivation was the missing ingredient in, oh let's see.......1998, 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2008? Glad y'all finally got that figured out.

Be careful what you wish for.

Would be a great series like always....just not sure why a Suns' would want to play the hotter team down the stretch that's historically had their number in the playoffs; for instance, as a Spur fan, even with all the trash that is talked, the Lakers in a 7-game series always make me a bit nervous to say the least. Suns are playing well though so I can understand them feeling confident.

depeds if they have robin lopez back and dont rely on richardson layups. amare can rape any pf they put out there but if he has to guard TD he will tire fast.

To be honest I would think they would lean toward the Mavs. They don't have a PG who can take advantage of Nash the way Parker can, and there is no body that can kill them from the wing position like Manu can since they dont really have a great wing defender, although i do like Dudley as a tough rugged defender, just dont think he will be able to do much to slow down a playoff Manu. Then, theres Duncan, the only player they have who can remotely slow him down is a 21 year old second year guy who's injured at the moment.

I think thats a few more problems than the Mavs can offer. But, im probably just bias.

If I was a Suns fan (thank goodness I'm not) I'd probably want the Spurs just for a chance to get that HUGE FUCKIN MONKEY OFF MY BACK. I'm not sayint eh Suns have a better chance beating the Spurs than the Mavs because they don't. Suns fans be careful what you wish for though. I don't think ya'll can take another vacation because of the Spurs.

better question is , who is/would be a better first round matchup for the spurs ? suns or mavs ?

mojorizen7

Mavs.
SUNS have already mentally lost any playoff series against the SPURS as long as Nash/Amare.....and Parker/Ginobli/Duncan are still on the active rosters...........regardless of which teams hotter, better, more talented etc...
Mavs.

Uh, don't the Suns have homecourt vs the Spurs? I'd say them just based on that. I don't like either team, would have preferred Denver or Utah.

I thought the Suns would beat the Spurs this year after seeing how PHX closed out the season, but now that I see the big 3 are in Beast Mode...I don't know.

It's also Basketball Natural Law that the Spurs will overcome the Suns.

Spurs age will catch them this year, they're going down if they meet the Suns. Then the Suns will lose to the Lakers. And then the Lakers will lose to Cleveland in the Finals.

The Mavs. Game 1 of the Portland series is evidence that this team still lacks what it takes to get over the hump. I'd expect the Spurs to win in 6 should the two teams play.

Not sure what you're saying....I said that helped his argument more because it depicted the fact Phoenix is noticeably younger than SA. Once again, I don't want the Spurs. I didn't expect the Suns to make the 2nd round and this is the first time since 2006 that the Suns have actually surpassed expectations. That'll get completely ruined if they lose to the Spurs again.

I should be confident about playing the Suns, but there's only so many times Tim Duncan can hit a 3, or Richardson can blow a wide open dunk.

Be careful how you choose Sun fan. This will be the last year that you will be in the playoffs for some time as Amare takes the cash from the east coast. Choose the wrong team and go home for a long, long time. That is of course if you get past Portland. Choose wisely.

DUNCANownsKOBE2

This makes tons of sense since Phoenix can offer Amare way more guaranteed money than any of these East coast teams you speak of.

If Roy is healthy then I would choose the Suns too.
Portland has a bigger and better defensive front court. At least they have Camby and a big forward like Batum.

There is no way the suns can stop Parker or Manu.Where is Raja Bell? and who is going to be on Duncan? There's not a Kurt Thomas (who did well in 2007) or Shaq. Amare? :lol.

Honestly, I don't want either team. I'm more afraid of both the Spurs and Mavs than I am of any other teams in the West, Lakers included. Based on matchups and recent history, though, I'd say the Mavs. I'd love to see an Amare-led Suns team take on the Mavs in the playoffs again.

Also, no one game plans for the Suns better than Gregg Popovich. He's actually the scariest part about the Spurs to me.
