I've heard rumors and had never really thought about it before.

But with the attitude of our politicians lately it wouldn't really surprise me.

Nothing is what it appears to be anymore.

Nixon was never impeached. He probably would have been, though.

I don't think that there was really any payback for Nixon. I think the Republican Party learned from Nixon's mistakes and has figured out how not to get caught, and if you do get caught, to make sure there's a legal loophole, and if there's no legal loophole, to manipulate the American public into believing that they didn't do anything wrong in the first place.
