View Full Version : Did Phil doom the Lakers?

What does that have to do with Phil's comments?
The Lakers are settling for jumpers and defending with their hands, not their feet. The differential would be larger if the refs didn't allow so much physicality off the ball.

lol celtics getting to play the most mediocre team in the playoffs to build up their gay confidence whilst meanwhile the Thunder would have already disposed of them like a tainted tampon

I did like Phil's new rhetorical tactic after Game 4; instead of challenging the officiating, he complimented the Thunder's "free throw defense," calling it the best he's seen in a while.

That would have been cool when they were playing at the same level. It'll be better for Kobe to flame out in the first round and enjoy any later embarrassment this postseason.

I just don't understand why the Lakers play so dumb. They are seriously the most stupid and stubborn team. No way should this series be tied. If the Lakers just went to Bynum and Pau every play, these games would be so much easier for them.
But no. They have to do things their way. Because dumping the ball inside is not the flashy or cool thing to do.

Stern is the Godfather...you don't smite the Godfather....you bend down and kiss his ring. Stern has been very generous towards Phil, and this is how Phil repays him. Now Stern is telling Phil its time to fish with Kenny.

Please, the Thunder got to the foul line because they were 10 times more aggressive and took it to the hole at every imaginable opportunity.
Derek Fisher is their point guard. Westbrook is going to force Fisher into retirement after this series, that's how bad he's humiliating the guy.
Quit crying about conspiracy theories and actually watch the game. The Thunder players are simply imposing their will on a team full of pussies, just like the Celtics did in 2008. Last year was an aberration simply because the Lakers were healthier than pretty much all of the good playoff teams.

It's not that easy. The Thunder are physically outplaying Bynum and especially Gaysol. The Lakers big men are big, but they have no heart.

And yet that is exactly what they did in game 4 and got torched. The Lakers did not lose games 3 and 4 for anything resembling shot selection or whether or not they played a post dominated offense. If anything, the changing of offensive styles from game 3 to 4 shows that regardless how you approach the offensive end, defense and hustle wins in the post season. The Laker as a whole simply got outhustled. They lost all the hustle intangibles. Rebounding, TO's, Steals, bloked shots. When you are losing the hustle game you resort to reaching in and not moving you feet. That directly results in free throw disparity and no team is going to win a game that is outscored on the line by a whopping 25 points. Ever.

Yet you read all the others posts and Kobe now deferred too much to the posts and didn't shoot enough. Lose/Lose for the mamba.
Now you also have to take into account that while the 2nd uint was jacking up those 3's to try to shorten the lead, thier post guys were LO and Mbenga. The post was being fed in the first half and the Laker bigs were getting moved off the block and completely outhustled.

That tends to happen when it's not successful anymore. The Laker bigs were not taking advantage and being outworked. Sooner or later you have to give some credit to the Thunder. How many times did we see Pau get the ball ON THE BLOCK only to dribble around and end up passing it from 10-12ft out. They were not making aggresive moves to score in the paint because they were getting outworked and swatted!

OKC outworked LA BIGTIME yesterday & the 2nd half of game 3...They might have a shorter frontline but they have WAY more fire then any player on the Lakers at the moment..The players on the 3 peat Lakers were way more gritty & physical...You cant really rely on players like Pau, Bynum & Odom to bring that type of effort & intensity every game..It is what it is, fuck it haha

true, but you dont see Pop and the Spurs publicly bashing the officiating.....not occasionally and definitely not on the consistent basis that Phil does.
instead Pop goes to the league in a private manner with his concerns....all the while, holding his team accountable for losses by blaming their play or lack there of.

It is business, but it's a PROFESSIONAL business. There's nothing professional about him being a fucking baby and bitching about calls that were against the Lakers. Phil has the nerve to complain about the refs when he's had the more than the majority of calls in favor of him.
I guess he forgot about the 2002 WCF.
Give Pop Michael Fucking Jordan and he'd have 10 too, if not more.
Believe me, Jackson is babied like no other and is seriously overrated.

PROFESSIONAL business is PROFESSIONAL business be it selling widgets, or, coaching NBA basketball. You do whatever it takes, because that is what the guy next to you is prepared to do and is doing.
"First prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Second prize,,,,your fired. It's fuck or walk, gentleman. Get them to sign on the line that is dotted."
Same thing in the NBA. First prize is the NBA World Championship. Second prize,,,,your in the loser corral with the other 29 failures.

You're absolutely right...try to pay attention this time:
There's nothing PROFESSIONAL about Phil Jackson (a HEAD COACH) excusing the loss towards the officiating...rather than taking it in a PROFESSIONAL matter and God forbid give the Thunder credit...or even to say that his team lacked what the Thunder had much of.
It wasn't his coaching, it wasn't his players, it wasn't the Thunder outplaying and out hustling, it was the refs..
Great guy.

Right. It's about how you carry yourself in the business of your profession. I'm only stating that Phil doesn't carry himself as he should, professionally. With all the attention and media he has around him and his team, show some respect to yourself and the league that blessed you with 10 fucking rings. He's in his 60's, and he still acts like a kid.

You mean like George Karl, who's now making deals with God by promising to be a "better NBA ambassador?"...or, that fuck professional commentator Hubie Brown castigating coaches and players alike for their treatment of the refs after he spent 30 years calling them everything but white men?
You want fair. It's not fair. Life is ridden with unfair. You left (fair) in kindergarten. Phil will eat anybody alive who'll let permit it. And he'll never look back. That, aj, is how he got the X Cap. What, you think he got all X of those doing good? You're deluding yourself if that is the case.

Bullshit. You're going to tell me that those rings had nothing to do with some of the best players playing on his team his ENTIRE career, but the fact that he's an asshole and likes to bitch about the officiating? If that was the case, EVERY DAMN COACH WOULD BE DOING IT.
You're right though, Jordan and Scottie nor Kobe and Shaq had nothing to do with it. C'mon man, get real. Coaches don't win rings, players do.
What, you think he got all X of those doing good?
Obviously not, but he didn't get those rings for being the way he is, and that's unprofessional. Get real man, he's a great coach..but he didn't get those rings because of him, it was because of his legendary players.

And yet everyone of those players had struggled for years until PJ arrived. Other than Shaq's riding Wades coat tails one year none have won ANyTHING without PJ as the coach.
While it is ultimately up to the players, there are many factors that are instrumental in winning rings. FO and GM decisions, Injuries,Desire & Determination, Luck, Coaching in game and out, Players. Coaches do in fact have a big impact with winning rings.
