Hill and Blair, this is why I had so much hope for this season.
These two guys have all the talent in the world to be game changers.
They aren't franchise players but they are the heart and soul of Spurs basketball.
Not that different from when Antonio Daniels and Malik Rose used to dismantle the Mavs.

Man this needs to be won for him alone, his best game by far, and vs Dallas in PO. Props.

Hill's coming out party. HIll was huge, and he shot with incredible confidence, which can only bode well for this team. We're not there yet, but this team is coming together in a tough way. We're not laying down for anyone at this point. Two months ago that Dallas lead would have balloned to blow out. Not tonight. And a lot of it was Hill bringing us back. Blair making some smart and hustle plays and Jefferson and Dice playing tough defense and keeping their heads in the game.

Well, I asked because I remember reading here that Beno's skills were close to Tony's, maybe not in the NBA, but at least when they were 16/17 yrs old. But now, look at what Hill has become for the Spurs.
It starts with attitude, I think. George Hill came in never expecting big minutes from the Spurs. But he's always shown that he is willing to work on his game, something Beno was not capable of doing. If Beno had come down with an ankle injury near the end of the season, he probably would've declared himself out for the rest of the playoffs.
I'm still pissed when I think that Beno has two rings while Hill and Dice have none.

Beno was a natural point guard with excellent court vision and a good shooting stroke. He wasn't particularly fast or a good defender, but the real problem was that he was lazy, didn't work on his game like he should have, prone to specious injuries, and always had excuses for why he wasn't playing.
Hill is a natural shooting guard who can handle the ball and is unselfish, but doesn't have good playmaking instincts. He does have good defensive ability and obviously has worked his ass off.

Beno had honestly all the talent in the world, he was a more talented point guard than either Tony or Hill. He could distribute the ball and he had a great shot.
Talent isn't everything. Hill and Tony have all the intangibles that turn players into something special. It's drive and determination that separate them. Beno thought he was entitled to start over Tony, but he disappeared whenever we needed him, in games that mattered.
Edit: it was so bad that Pop once said "I don't know why he's not playing." of an injury that Beno was supposedly suffering.

Beno Udrih could easily be one of the top 12 NBA point guards, if he wanted to work at it.
But he doesn't.
Hes THAT naturally talented, he could be THAT good.

From the recap.
The 23-year-old guard became the first player other than Duncan, Ginobili or Tony Parker to lead the Spurs in scoring in a playoff game since the first round in 2007. That’s a span of 41 playoff games.
Put in even more remarkable context, one of the Big Three has been the top scorer for San Antonio in all but two postseason games since the Spurs won their second championship in 2003.
Michael Finley was the first in 2007. Hill became the other after Duncan, Parker and Ginobili combined for just 31 points in a physical Game 4 that left tempers flaring.

Georgie's performance tonight started brewing in Game 3. He played straight up vs. j.(assmunch) terry most of that game and got introduced to terry's cheap, below the belt, playoff brand of bball. One can see Geroge getting pissed during game 3. He could've started complaining and bailing out of plays, but he didn't. Instead, George had his "awakening," grew a(nother?) pair, a playoff pair, dropped 16, and got tougher as the game went on.
Tonight he took that toughness and absolutely buried terry along with the rest of the mavs.
Props to you, Georgie, and welcome to the Playoffs. Looks like you belong, kid.

He had already been introduced to Terry's antics in the regular season this year; Terry intentionally tripped Hill during a game in San Antonio.

I've always liked Havoc for his ability to disrupt offense, on an individual and team basis, but it'd be cool to find one that works and we could find some kind of consensus on.
So let's throw the names out, see what we're able to come up with, and start a poll with the best ones.
Havoc
Indy (Hometown)
Reach (What he was perceived to be upon being drafted and his freakish length.)
Hawk (Wingspan and ball-hawking ability)
Some of the ones I've seen or heard:

Hill stinks tonight.
His defence on Beaubois was embarassingly bad and he's the only player in the NBA I've ever seen miss an uncontested dunk, get his own rebound and then blow a layup.
Hill needs to ride pine in the second half.

Sorry, I don't even imply cursing that much, but GH3 is the bomb. Keep bringing it to PDX or PHX, Georgie!

I don't think anyone, not even Pop,imagined that GH would be able to perform at this level in a PO series just his 2nd year. His rise has been phenomenal IMO.
