My understanding is the rule is less than .4 on the clock and you can't get a catch and shoot up. So it is just a tip in, Spurs are up 3 why even guard anyone on that play?? All you can do is tip in for 2. But i see here on youtube in a game this year Joey Crawford and his crew counted a shot with only .3 on the clock saying the same bullshit that snakebit the Spurs in 04. That they start the clock and if you get it off before the red light it counts.. The announcers thought the rule was what i did and didn't get why it counted?? So which is it, .3 or less and no catch and shoot or you can catch and shoot?? I mean there was .1 on the damn clock, for god's sake. Obviously it is impossible to catch and shoot that..

exactly. the only way they can pull it off is by punching the ball to the basket.

I think you can throw it in and someone can hit it in... like volleyball tap it in with .1 left. You can't catch it with two hands and shoot in the air and you most certainly can't catch on the ground, jump and shoot.

But if you look at the youtube video they counted the shot and everyone from the coaching staff to the announcers did not get why??

Nothing less than 0.2 can be caught and released. At 0.1, the ball can only be batted or tipped in. The only hope the Mavs had was to throw it to someone behind the arc and someone bat it in.

So why was Manu anywhere near the ball there? He made contact for no reason whatsoever if that is the case.. But that video puts the rule in doubt.

i have no idea. i was expecting the refs to waive off the time.
