Pats fans: what did you think of our draft?

What did you guys think and where else would you like to see us improve?

In theory, a damn solid draft. I see Gronkowski and Brandon Spikes coming in and making an impact immediately.

McCourty I'm hopeful on, he's getting alot of comparisons to Revis, but Belichick has whiffed on so many DB picks the past few years I won't put any faith in him until I see results on the field.

Cunningham and the WR pick I'm not as sure on. Cunningham looks great but I didn't see eye popping numbers from him. He might be a year or two away. The receiver they got sounds like Chad Jackson 2.0 but hopefully I'm wrong.

Overall some nice picks, but it looks like they still need another receiver and another pass rusher. Which unfortunately is what we all wanted to see addressed in the draft.

Exactly my thoughts. While a nice draft, we still need a pass rusher, wideout, and for the love of God a fucking running back. We can go another season with these scrubs.

Pretty much what mono said. I was a pig in shit once New England drafted Gronk and I'm hopeful Spikes will be able to gouge some eyes out during his career here, but I just didn't see why they didn't address running back, offense line or for that matter pass rush as much as they needed to.

Given BB's drafting prowess at the above... which is, uhm, crappy, I think he'll hopefully try to address these with low to mid-priced journeymen from other teams.

And a reminder... the Pats set themselves up (again) for next year. They own Oakland's first, which will most likely be top ten, as well as Carolina's second rounder.

With Oaklands first, I see them (or I think they should) use it to draft one of the many marquee receivers from the 2008 recruiting class who might enter early as a replacement for Randy Moss since he's gone after this year. These receivers include

Jonathan Baldwin (my ideal choice, dude is a FREAK)
Michael Floyd
Julio Jones
DeAndre Brown
Aldarius Johnson

Those receivers I listed are all freak talents, the amount of stud receivers in the 2008 recruiting class was unreal. Balwin and green would both be far and away the best receiving prospects in this years' draft and would be a top 10 pick. When Calvin Johnson entered the draft every NFL team knew he'd be a stud in the NFL, the same would go for those two. I'd be more than happy with New England using Oakland's pick on one of those guys as a Moss replacement should one enter after his junior year.

Hopefully he doesn't sign with the Jets like he's rumored to since he thrived in Ryan's system. If Kris Jenkins can come back healthy and Thomas + Cromartie do better under Ryan that is a scary ass defense.

terrible move. Adalius is by far the biggest mistake of Belichick's career - how he used him, how he handled him, how he now released him. Thomas will go play for the Jets next season and kick ass.

The guy is a great player who simply didn't buy into the Patriot Way. I don't know how Belichick managed to screw this one up, but honestly I'd much rather he keep Thomas on the roster deactivated for the rest of his contract than let him go to the Jets or Dolphins, motivated with getting back at Bill. Too bad.

I'm not sure why he ever signed Adalius as a player to drop into coverage on every play. He was a lethal OLB pass rusher on Baltimore and was a good pass rusher on New England the few times Belichick utilized that part of him. Now the thought of New York having Thomas and Pace as edge rushers is daunting to say the least.

DoK, I'll believe you if you say the WR's are worth it. I'm not a huge college fan.
