Question About 'The Graduate'

After Ben comes back from college, how long is he living at his parents' before Elaine comes back home? My first thought was he graduates after the spring semester and uses the whole summer chilling at his parents' having sex with Mrs Robinson. But if it was summer, then what took Elaine so long to come home? This movie's one of my favorites but I never really understood the timeline of it

I haven't seen it in a long time. She's at Berkeley, right? Maybe a summer semester? But I agree it is odd that he spends the whole summer at home, but she doesn't show up from school for a long time. We've just missed a brief reference somewhere along the way.
