View Full Version : Najara under review.

David Stern just said it on Jim Rome show. He didn't exactly said it, but he went to say it is bad to do that to a player and they under review right now. I wonder if they do more than a game suspension for him.

Of course its under review. It was intentional and pretty ugly. I doubt he gets suspended though. Who knows?

Well comparing everything the commissioner said, they going to make sure this want happened again, so i think for sure at least a suspension.

I'm pretty sure he's gonna be suspended for at least one game..if not more...it was a very cheap shot & they cannot deny that..it was definitely a lot worse than what kg did.

Too bad. He hurt the Mavs a lot more than the Spurs with those stupid threes in game 2. I was having flashbacks to Rodman jacking up the same stupid shit in the 95 WCF.

They suspended KG and he didn't even make real contact. Najera will sit.

I used to think of him as the Mexican Mark Madsen, but he's less spazz and more straight up bruiser. He's gotta do something to stay in the league this long. He seems like a good teammate but he gets carried away.

The only good thing about a Najera suspension would be that he couldn't commit a similar foul in Game 5 to one of our players.

Pop looked like he was ready to murder the guy. And I like how he immediately dispatched the assistant coaches to keep the other players on the bench.

Also, watch jefferson in the lower left hand part of the screen. He went in there ready to tackle the guy. That was a full-on, fist-pumping, dead sprint until he pulled up at the last second.

Jefferson saw another man on his back and jumped into action. It was pure instinct.

Don't think that went unnoticed. Even Kenny Smith commented on the fact that Najera hadn't played the whole game, and it wasn't a time to send him in. He was saying that Carlisle sent him in to be a hatchet man.

Of course it's tough to prove, but Stern doesn't have to put it in front of a judge. If things get rough, I wouldn't be shocked if Najera rats Carlisle out.

That's a 2 gamer If Horry's foul on Nash was a 2 Gamer.. Horry's foul wasn't as Bad.

Horry's suspension was a straight-up apology to Phoenix. A hip check with arms in? Hard foul, no intent to injure. But since Nash oversold it and the players couldn't keep their asses on the bench, Stern was forced to suspend them. The only way to apologize for that was to lengthen Horry's suspension.

Difference between accidents, hard fouls and intent to injure.

Najera was intending to injure. You can't claim there was any play on the ball or that he was just trying to foul. He hooked a player in the air around the neck and yanked him down.

There should be no place for that - and I'll say the same thing on Wednesday if a Spur goes out and does the same thing.

Just wondering, have any of you guys watched NBA games pre-2000?

Back then that would be just a very hard foul, and would be just a flagrant and that is all. Actually that might actually be considered a very light foul compared to some of the hard fouls of the past.

Players used to do these things all the time to send a message.

Funny, everyone (even the experts) was saying the same thing about the Dallas team this year...and look how it's ended up.

Mavs in 5 or 6? :lmao

Get over it, the Dallas Cubans will never win a ring and the sooner you can accept it, the sooner you make peace with it.

Yeah, a fair number of us have.

1) There is no place for this period. It's intentional and it's dangerous - which is why it's against the rules now.

2) There can still be hard fouls and statement fouls - it's unnecessary to grab someone by the neck when they are in mid-air and throw them to the ground. AHF pointed out last night that's not even allowed in games that are played in padding (ie, American football). It's very dangerous and carries a high risk of injury.

3) To see a legal hard foul, rewatch Blair on Kidd or RJ on Dirk.

What would be interesting is if Stern broke tradition and extended the ban into next season, say 20 games. If players know they can miss paychecks the next year, they won't do dirty work like this in the playoffs.

Funny how Najera can become a hero to Dallas fans for simply attacking someone from behind. It's funny because only a handful of players can do what Ginobili does as a player. But anyone in the NBA, and most of the fans in the stand, could do what Najera did. We can all flagrantly foul someone from behind. So why do we admire someone for doing it?

By the way, Manu was all class. Picks himself up and makes two free throws and then hits the biggest shot of the game a few minutes later.

It's Official. The League has reviewed it, and here are the results:

I find it hard to believe that Rick Carlisle would obey gametime instructions from Mark Cuban. Whatever his faults, he's a legitimate and accomplished NBA coach, and that would ruin him if it became public knowledge.
