Just reported on WOAI. The NBA will not take any further action. Don Harris says that the NBA emailed him with the decision.

Kind of lame in my opinion, but not surprising.

So if he is sent out next game and pulls the same shit and a Spur is seriously injured, the NBA is gonna say what? "oops our bad!" ?

Fuck najera

really he's such a liability for the mavs that it's best if he actually gets some play time.

People are afraid of Najera? Ahahaha...really?

04-26-2010, 10:44 PM
On a related note, I'm guessing we'll see some Bonner in game 5? He just needs a little bit, talk to him in the paint and bore him about different types of sandwiches. Get his mind out of the game. Then in the post-game, when the press asks Najera about why he didn't go dirty again, "But I just couldn't make up my mind: is it wheat, or sourdough!"

I don't think anyone if afraid of him. I'm bothered because it was clearly intentional, as in he came in for that reason, and didn't make a play for the ball. He was trying to hurt him and that warrants a suspension. Afraid of him? Not one bit.

Najera couldn't even successfully "send a message." He sucks. I'm glad the Mavs brought him back for a second go around and it will be funny to see the MFFLs passionately cheering his return in Game 5.

Time served, I guess. Dude is a danger to everyone on the court though. Just another reason to finish this thing in 5.

Their will be no retaliation. The Spurs can ill afford to lose any players to suspension for game 6. A wrong doesn't make a right.

Meh. Not like Najera makes any difference. On or off the court, he does nothing.

It's going to be interesting if the mavs get very aggressive and the spurs keep their poise, the refs are going to penalize that. that could be a key to a spurs' victory tomorrow.

Yeah. I can't imagine what would motivate them to, butchoo know it's comin if he even SEES the court.

It will be more inspiring and uplifting than Jet's return from suspension after punching Finley in the nutz.

If I were the Mavs I'd put him on the court just to see if a Spurs player takes a shot at him.

Probably wouldn't happen, but it might get them a couple of cheap free throws.

I'm pretty sure Manu will be fired up if he gets into the game when hes in there. he will be in attack mode

This is good. Not because I think playing Najera will help the Spurs but because I dont want the league over reacting and trying to take the physical play out of the game. If the league over reacts and babysits Dirk like in 06 then this hurts the Spurs. We haven't been dirty with Dirk but outside game one we've been allowed to play playoff defense.

The physical play has made the series better. I'm glad stern hasn't tried to remove the one aspect that has made the series interesting to the casual fan.

I know his kind. Every pick up game has one. That guy who doesn't have much skill but plays hard and fast with no finesse and ends up hurting someone every time he plays. You want him on your team.

Najera was just pissed about the Arizona Law, give him a break.

will_spurs
04-27-2010, 04:38 AM
Well I'm afraid of 2 things:
- that he would hurt a Spurs player, since he got a pass this time why not try again
- that he's going to make another foul like this, players will get off our bench in outrage and be suspended... if you noticed when Pop rushed after the foul on Manu after half a sec he turned back and told the bench to stay where they were. That could change the outlook of the series if a few key players are suspended for Game 6.

Najera won't be suspended for choking Manu while Tim was suspended once for making contact or shall we say holding Jack Nies once. Great.

the NBA is truly amazing.

But I'm not really sure if it is good to beat a depleted Mavs team.. It is better if they're complete.

We don't want alibis.

I can already see Manu’s and 1 on him 5 sec after the scrub gets on the floor…… this is certainly good news, this guy is contributing to the cause significantly more than Mason, Bonner and the Centerpiece combined.

I doubt that he plays and if he does I doubt he tries anything like that again.

However, if he does play and tries to hurt somebody, I think the attention would shift to Carlisle and Cuban. I can accept the explanation that Najera was acting on his own the first time, but you would have to think he was simply following orders if it happened again.

Time for Blair to return the favor.

That has NEVER been the Spurs way (at least since Popovich). You don't thug up, you don't retaliate, you play basketball. Winning is the best revenge.

In fact, Popovich pulled Blair over after the Dirk tech and reamed him out for getting involved in chippiness.

So let me get this straight and please correct me if my memory is a little off.

Robert Horry was suspended for one playoff game in 2007 for bumping Steve Nash's hip at center court yet Najera gets off without as much as a slap on the wrist for clotheslining Manu Ginobili as he went up for a layup?

Am I getting it?

In comparsion to other players that have been suspended in the past, he deserved to be suspended here, imo.

Regarding the comparison of Najera's foul to Horry's foul in 2007...

Horry's hipcheck of Nash in Game 4 of the WCSF, which ultimately resulted in the suspensions of Stoudemire and Diaw from Game 5, was the defining moment of the 2007 playoffs, and completely changed the momentum of that series against the Suns. That one play will live forever in the hearts of Spurs fans everywhere.

Najera's flagrant on Ginobili means nothing in the long run. Spurs in 6 (or maybe 5). Mavs are going fishing early.

Did this get posted? Apparently Najera says he didn't like Dirk getting hit in the face and wanted to protext his girlfriend.

Exactly. Raja Bell got suspended for clothes-lining Kobe, but somehow the league turns a blind eye on Najera for a move that was similarly dangerous, if not worse.

Najera claims he was sending a message, but what sort of message is the league sending by doing nothing?
