View Full Version : Manu's nose, cause for concern

Manu has not been the same since his broken nose. It looks like he lost some speed and lost the ability so see behind his back. His shot also looks a little off and eventhough conciously he is not afraid to attack, subconsiously, he is a little hesitant.

I hope it's just a matter of him getting used to it and not slow him down for the rest of the playoffs

I admit I'm a bit concerned about him too. He hasn't been himself since the broken nose. He tried using another type of tape and bandage on his nose for Game #5, and then changed back to the original padding he used in Game #4. Nothing worked. Hope he can get it together.

I was HOPING he'd bounce back in Gm 5, and he managed to look even worse than he did Gm 4.

I'm EXTREMELY nervous right now. Even if we DO manage to pull off Gm 6, w/o Manu playin at the top of his game like he had been to close out the year, the Spurs might as well have packed it in on Thurs.

I don't know if you guys have ever had a broken nose, but it causes the nasal cavaties to swell as well as the areas under the eyes and the eyelids. It is actually pretty minor on Manu but that is probably because of the training staff of SA. He is having to breathe more through his mouth. Breathing through your mouth is not an efficient way to breathe. I think he is becoming fatigued a bit faster. I'd expect game 6 to be better since the swelling should subside a bit more by then. No biggie. Should be a knock down drag out fight in game 6.

:lol

Well, yeah. My anxiety coupled w/ my 5-10 stature and complete lack of any and all athletic ability wouldn't really compliment the Spurs style a' play.

I hope you're right, though. Livin in Dallas, I don't think I could handle THIS kinda letdown amongst all my Mavfan friends.

Did Tim get his nose broken too?

I'm worried if the broke nose brings breathing problems. Breathing through your mouth causes fatigue which seems to be the case with Manu in game 5.
Hope he recovers soon.

I'm betting he ditches the band-aid crap and goes maskless on Thursday. The competitor in him won't allow anything he can control to keep affecting his game.

I was sort of thinking the same thing, even though when asked if he was able to breathe out of his nose he said yes, because the swelling went down.

I have a feeling his conditioning is a little off with the breathing problems.

Lets see if he makes any adjustments to the bandages tomorrow, since he changed the white tape to a flesh colored tape (probably to make it less visible in his vision).

It's the swelling that is causing the issues man... That's what I'd be worried about. I'm sure it will be mostly gone by Thursday though. The trainers have kept it under control for the most part.

He said he has been getting dizzy when he looks down. There are some side effects from the nose that could be bothering him.

Cause for concern? I'll say. Sometimes I flinch back when his head turns toward me on television!

Manu better come out fired up. If he settles for jumpers all game then our chances are slim.

How old are you? If you are 35, Pop might consider you next year as the big FA signing this summer.

I think Manu will come out with some fire in Game 6, especially after watching his post-game interview. Before anyone could even ask him a question he looked at everyone and said "Well I really played like crap." Manu knows he played horribly and he's going to do everything he possibly can to bounce back and close these guys out at home...

Thanks, I've had the idea for a while now. It is a perfect match because Daniel has dark hair like Manu and Johnny has blonde hair like Dirk. Just could never find the right pictures to match the faces on the original pic in the same position until last night.

Has anyone else noticed that manu keeps shooting with his legs split apart? Thats not gonna help his shooting in the least.

Not a ear, not a finger, not a leg, not a hand, Manu's nose is his heart, it's huge and has a lot of blood in it, a golden gate bridge inside even powered with a dwarf inside to keep tremendous piece of meat alive.

You have to understand that he is not 100%

you guys think the bandage is causing drag since his nose isn't aerodynamic anymore?

Skip Bayless mentioned the word "concussion" in connection with Manu's injury.

Has anyone else heard this?

It wasn't his hair...it was never his hair. It was his nose, all along.

"Manu Ganosebleed"

I know its probably old, and yes, I like Manu, but I thought it was clever.
